God's Creation
On this second Lord’s Day Sunday in the tenth month of the year, we come with nature’s reminders of the grandness, greatness and goodness of Sovereign, Creator God. October is the month that displays the magnificent and utterly stunning array of fresh colours, as leaves magically seem to change their hues. Only God! Creator of the earth! We bow to Him for His wonderful works in creation.
We behold the breath-taking views of landscapes, draped in eye-catching, iridescent colours and the decorated trees in gardens and along the streets, proudly displaying their vibrant colours and irresistible tones, as they sway and bow with the call of the wind. Only God! Creator of the earth! We honour and give Him all praise, for His magnificent works in creation.
The winds blow, and the earth is carpeted with the colourful leaves of the trees, like a patchwork quilt, with uniquely patterned motifs of different reds, oranges, browns and yellows and greens. Only God! Creator of the earth! We lift Him high and praise Him for His beautiful works in creation.
These October scenes, whether we experience them live, or in pictures and videos, bring us to not just think of Creator God, but our entire beings cannot but give Him glory, as we lift our voices in love, praise and wonder. Even in the changing colours of the leaves on one single tree, its beauty is out of this world.
We, mere mortal creatures on earth, are given privilege to look, see and admire God’s nature and bow in adoration to Him. We worship, praise, honour and adore Him as Creator. God is Supreme, The Most High, Creator of earth and heaven. He is Lord. Even those in heaven, fall before Him in deep honour and praise. Will you, in reverence, listen to the heavenly worshippers? Revelation 4: 10 – 11, gives us this divinely moving picture of worship. The twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.
We also believe that God created all things, and that by His will they were created and have their being. Creator God is not just Creator, but He is the One who controls and conducts His own affairs as He pleases.
Let all nature praise the Lord,
Join the chorus with one accord,
For the beauty He doth afford,
Our Creator, Sovereign Lord.
We have been talking about some of the beauty of the month of October, in many parts of the world, as leaves of trees turn and their beautiful colours are nothing less than captivating. Indeed, it is all God’s doing. However, God’s creation includes the animals He has made for there is no animal, on the face of the earth, which God has not made.
We turn our attention to a man, God’s creation also, and how he gives special life to earth and the animals. I refer to Job, God’s servant, who was upright and perfect, who feared God and eschewed evil. We listen to Job as he speaks to his friends who refuse to believe that Job’s present suffering, troubles and trials, were not punishment from an angry God. Here are some words he speaks to his friends. But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. Job 12: 7 – 10.
Job has placed animals as able to teach and tell truths about God. During this week, we shall listen and learn as our Lord uses animals, His creation, to do His will and work.
