First And Second Coming

As we concluded yesterday’s offering, these words of admonition and advice were offered to us. “May we not put His First Coming aside, as that which has already happened and spend our time looking only to His Second Coming. There is still treasure to treasure up and ponder in each receiving heart.”

This all came to the forefront, after an Advent experience, which really brought me into a different frame of mind. I share this, believing that it will help many who are as I am, to have things placed in God’s perspective and not our own. Also, there are those who need to be brought to face certain Advent realities, which do impact their lives.

I was privileged to be able to listen to a servant of Jesus, a preacher of the Gospel of Christ, who brought a message of introduction to the Advent Season. We were told that although this is Christmas or Advent, we must realize that Jesus has already come as a Baby. We were passionately and sincerely invited to keep our thoughts on our Lord’s Second Coming. We were reminded of the fact that Jesus was coming soon and if we were not prepared, we would receive the wrath, already prepared for all who were not ready and fully prepared for King Jesus.

I for one, had my expectant mind and heart totally taken away from our Lord’s First Coming, as my heart and mind were fully engulfed with our Lord’s Second Coming. Honestly! I, like many other hearers, looked at my life seriously and asked our Lord to please save me and take my life unto Him. All I wanted to do was ponder on our Lord’s Second Coming and my present life, as we were seriously and solemnly warned about the facts of our Lord’s Second Coming. This was crucial; this was life and death, and we should always be ready, knowing where we stood, as our Lord would come again, most expectantly. This is what we read in Matthew 24: 44. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. We are further informed of His manner of coming, in 1 Thessalonians 5: 2b. The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

As this reality was passionately being brought home to all of us listeners, in our country and overseas as well, it was most graphically described to us that there would be much gnashing of teeth, wailing and weeping. Also quoted was Revelation 1: 7. Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. Suddenly, as if hit by a burning bullet, my thoughts were steered to the time in the narrative of our Lord’s First Coming, when there was great mourning, wailing and weeping. For the first time, in a most unusual and uncharacteristic way, are you also being led towards thoughts, which you never had room for, previously? One almost feels that this is a path to be tiptoed through, as it brings solemn awe and fear.

It is with quiet, yet awful fear, deep respect and reverence for the Lordship of Father God, that we offer all we know and do not know to the One Wise, as we are granted treasure as, never before known.

Holy God, there is none like You! To Your wisdom we look as in Your well of mercy, we are bathed. Grant us listening, learning and living Lord, in this time of Advent that will draw us closer and closer to Your Divine will and purpose. Amen!
