We are on the fourth and final infallible fact upon which our faith can comfortably soar, mounting with wings like eagles, to wherever our Captain and Guide takes us.
We were told that there were four infallible facts to be drawn from these words, found in Charles Wesley’s inspired hymn, ‘Captain of Israel’s Host And Guide.’
By Thy unerring Spirit led,
We shall not in the desert stray,
We shall not full direction need,
Nor miss our providential way;
As far from danger as from fear,
When love, almighty love, is near.
The first infallible fact to be identified, at which we looked, stated this. By Thy unerring Spirit led. Shouldn’t faith in our Captain Holy Spirit, allow us to know that He will never ever be found wanting and making mistakes on any journey?
So we asked:
What’s your problem, when your life you commit,
All to the unerring Holy Spirit?
The second identified infallible fact at which we looked stated this. We shall not in the desert stray. Shouldn’t faith in our Captain Holy Spirit, cement in our minds and hearts that we will never stray in any place that is strange, new and unknown to us?
So we asked:
Why, in desert places, you fear you’ll stray?
Aren’t you with your Captain? He knows the way.
The third identified, infallible fact stated this. We shall not full direction need, nor miss our providential way. Shouldn’t faith in our Captain Holy Spirit, keep us anchored in the fact that we do not need to know everything about our journey, because with our Captain and Guide, we cannot lose our providential way?
So we asked:
Why do you need to have full direction?
When you know little of navigation?
Why are you holding works as evidence?
Don’t you know it’s about God’s providence?
Having discussed and contemplated the three facts, mentioned above, we get fully into the fourth identified, infallible fact upon which our faith can take wings.
As far from danger as from fear,
When love, almighty love, is near.
First, we note a huge contrast, where love holds supremacy, superiority and sovereignty. There are the heavily laden, dark, heavy and life-sucking words, danger and fear. However they cannot be spoken of without the overpowering and underlining light, power and victory of love.
Pause for a second, while we are reminded that all we have been receiving so far, all we have been seeking with our Captain Holy Spirit, relates only to Israel’s hosts. This is only pertinent to, all who seek the land above. In other words, this is not for the general public, but only for those who are the New Israel. These are whosoever believe in Jesus, God’s Love-Gift to the world. Yes, God, who is Love, gave us His only begotten Son, so that whoever abides in Him, with undeniable belief, and He in them, will know all that Love gives. This definitely includes unfathomable distance from danger and fear.
How can this ever be true? How can we accept such thinking, when we are living in a world of danger – snares, traps, deceit, and every other conceivable and inconceivable evil - just waiting to get at us?
