When we began this week of receiving, do you remember how we were made to see ourselves in the eyes of Father God? We were cast and placed in the same mold as Jacob, in relation to who we were when God saw us and snatched us in our weak, helpless condition. Permit me to repeat the Scripture verses for you.
He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him; He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirs up a nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the LORD alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him. Deuteronomy 32: 10 – 12.
All we are acknowledging, as our lives grow more and more in the likeness of our Saviour, Master and Lord Jesus, is that we too were lost in the howling wilderness of sin, without hope. We were helpless to save ourselves, when our Jesus saw us, loved us and made us the apple of His Eye, saving us with His own precious, innocent Blood. He saw abject powerlessness, weakness and poverty, when He saw us and put His power, strength and riches in us.
We have been viewing these truths in different, unimaginable angles, illuminating sights and victorious colours, through the silent, weak, unrecognized power of the spirit of a widow, who was resilient, persistent, vigilant, diligent and patient in her receiving. This was the main text which accompanied us throughout the entire week.
Luke 18: 5. Yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
As we conclude, I must share with you these holding, confirming and ever present thoughts, as we were being shown undeniable truths and facts about God’s miraculous working, in sort of, almost undercover ways, in this widow. Lest you forget however, I again remind you of this important understanding. Although we have been using the word widow, our all-inclusive meaning, embraced, included and totally held high, all who were widow-like in their experiences and dealings with the world. In short, we have been speaking about us as weak, helpless and powerless to help ourselves in this world.
So what am I sharing with you? It is that all through the week, words from the previous week were held high, with deeper and more holding confirmation that we can indeed do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Yes indeed! When I saw that widow in all her weakness, poverty and utter helplessness to help herself, Paul’s words, seemed to be fanned into bigger and brighter flames each time. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4: 13.
Believers in the One, True, Living and Active Word, will you also hear and heed? Followers of Jesus Christ, the One and Only life-ensuring way, will you give up all of you, to receive all of Him? God, the Holy Spirit Himself, has brought us through this week of showing us His unhidden love for the weak and powerless. He has made it simple and accessible for us to understand by faith, showing how His strength is made perfect in our weakness. If we are in Him, bearing His fruit in dry, harsh, difficult times; times which reek of pure discouragement and emptiness, then He is ever ready, pleased and delighted to have you do the impossible in Him. That widow surely was not facing an easy time in her poor position. Hope kept her bearing lavishly, the fruit of persistence, patience and more, in a most down time.
Believe and receive! You have been given the Lord’s Strength so that you can do all things through Him who is your unbeatable strength. God’s strength is more than adequate for what you are experiencing in this your present life-hour. His strength is perfectly sufficient even for your tomorrow’s life-hour, if God so grants you a tomorrow.
This word of our Lord spoken to Paul is not just for one man.
God is LORD, remember; and He rules over all, including you.
God is FATHER, remember; and He has chosen you as His child.
God is SAVIOUR, remember; and He saved you to know all that is His, including His strength.
Go therefore, O weak, helpless, powerless one, go on the immutable, impenetrable and indefatigable Word of Jesus that you can do all things through His freely offered Strength.
Go patiently, persistently, and perseveringly with our Lord’s Word engraved on your heart, soul, mind and strength.
My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12: 9a.
