Changeover in Precedence

We ended with this quote on yesterday’s offering. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

Looking around at ordinary, daily human operations, we find it much easier to see how we are able to have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air. However, when it comes to our minds accepting this order of God, to have dominion over every living thing that moves, we begin to shave off, peel off and cut off living things that have become domineers over us. In other words, living things which we have been given dominance over, dominate us, and this can never be pleasing unto God. We need a changeover here also.

It is here that we look at David and listen to how he does not just accept this word of Creator God, but in loud, illustrious praises to God as Creator, he holds God’s ruler-ship to His human creation. This is what psalmist David says to God, in relation to human beings. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet. Psalm 8: 6.

We understand and accept that in using the pronoun, You, David is referring to Creator God, the Triune God; You, whose Name is excellent above all the earth; You, who set Your glory above the heavens. Likewise, we also believe and accept that the pronoun, him, refers to God’s human creation, men and women, you and me. When David gives praise and thanks to God, He is specifically and consciously lifting the Supreme Lordship of God, over all humankind in making all people, all His human creation, one in ruler-ship as God has commanded. In David’s words in the given text, three power points have been singled out. It is in the area of these highlighted points that many of us, if not most of us, definitely need a changeover. What are these power points?

First to be opened up to us in brilliant light, is the power point of having Precedence. You have been given precedence over all God’s created things. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands.

To have dominion over, is to rule over, as we all know and as has already been stated. Just think of the works of God’s hands. Think of one thing even, and whatever your mind has brought before you, big or small, and yes, you have been given precedence over whatever you have named before God. God never lies and David is speaking directly after what God has spoken in the very beginning of His creation. Truly, many of us need a complete, direct and absolute changeover of mindset, and being-set, in this matter of precedence. If precedence means coming first, or coming before, then we must show God’s will and way in this, regarding our responses in life. This is what I mean.

Having been giving dominion and therefore precedence over the works of God’s hands, we should always remember that God has placed us before them. I can assure you that Jesus still has to remind you and me of who we are in the scheme of all things created. May we hear Jesus again, with changedover hearts and minds. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you that the birds? Luke 12: 24. Is not Jesus reminding us of His Father’s pronouncement for us in creation? Consider the ravens and consider who you are in relation to them. Consider that you hold precedence over them, for you have dominion over them. Consider that this is true for all the works of God’s hands, so that you have precedence over all.

Having being given precedence over the works of God’s hands, is not just a mind thing. It is an actual reality. In other words, it is just like the children of a king. That they have precedence above other subjects in the kingdom is not just a wish, a fancy, an idea, or a desire for that matter. It is so because of birth. It is so because all the children born to the king, are in his image and likeness. We must never ever deny whom God has made us. To do so, will be to turn our backs on who we truly are in this earth, God’s human creation with precedence over the works of His hands.

Holy God, help us in this changeover please. Amen!
