The Name Of Jesus

On this first day, in the final month of the year 2023, what better way to usher in this month, than by engaging in the final question of our discourse? At the beginning of this time, we were given focus on the Name of Jesus, where three specific questions were asked.
Was it a special name?
Was it a spectacular name?
Was it a supernatural name?
Having looked at the first two, we now come to the final question,
Was it a Supernatural Name?
Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost. Jesus was a miracle, where supernatural events marked His birth, yet His Name was not a supernatural Name. In other words, apart from His Name being ordinary, fully human, and shared by many others, His Name did not automatically cause the supernatural to fly into gear, at every turn. For example, it is not like the television programme, ‘Bewitched’, where the lady, with supernatural powers, would wiggle her nose and have supernatural things occur at will. No! That is not the Name nor Nature of Jesus.
You must understand then, that to follow Jesus, you too will have an ordinary name. Remove your mind-set, your thoughts and desires, your wanting to have a name that is Special, Spectacular and Supernatural. Your ordinary name can be made extraordinary in the Hand of God.
We also need to understand that this human name was given to Him at birth. Prophets spoke about the name, but the child was named at birth. As simple as this may be to you, this is the Lord’s Advent giving. The ‘Birth of Love’ has taken place, and the Name has been given.
Do you believe that God has always had a Hand in your life? Do you believe that He called you long before you were born? Do you believe that God knows your name? Then your ordinary, common name of Joshua, Joseph, Mary, Lucy, Gloria or even Matthew, is the name God takes and makes into what pleases Him. Your name is not Special, Spectacular, nor Supernatural, but God will take your ordinary name and exalt it, so that His works may be known in the ordinary. In this way, people will see Christ, honour Him and turn to Him.
Once again I want you to see that Jesus, was an ordinary name given to Jewish children and others also. In the Name Jesus, God chose to do the extraordinary. God chose to put Himself, His very Heart, in that name. It is His Heart of Love that we receive and know in the Name of Jesus. Is this not our hope? Is this not our Good News? Does this not make it all possible for us to believe that we too can receive all that the Name of Jesus offers, for in His Name, is His Heart?
O Holy Jesus, Name above all names, thank You. Let us know the Incarnate God please. Give us eyes to see the supernatural in the natural, the heavenly in the earthly, and the exalted in the lowly. Amen!
