Praise For The Blood

We are just about halfway in our Lenten travels with God, the Holy Spirit. There is so much we are thankful to Him for that we do not even know how to begin. However your time in this period of Lent has been, thus far, we all have to give God thanks for sending His Son into this world to save sinners. We thank our Counsellor, Guide and Teacher for leading us into new vistas of truth and renewed cleansing of the Blood of Jesus.

On this third Lord’s Day Sunday in Lent, we just want to give praise and thanks to our Blessed Saviour, Jesus, for life. It is His Blood that gives us life. It is in Him and His shed Blood that we know true living. We know this to be so, because we believe all that Jesus has said and by faith we accept His Living Word, as factual.

Let’s feast on these words of Jesus. Jesus is addressing His people, the Jewish people, whom He is enlightening about who He is and what His Blood and Body will do for those who accept Him. It is interesting to note that many of the listening Jews hear what Jesus is saying about His Blood and Body, but are openly and vehemently refusing to believe a word of what He is saying. In fact, Jesus’ words bring chaos instead of calm, deep tension instead of peace and much argument, instead of acceptance.

What were these words of Jesus?  Let’s listen to them, as published in John 6: 53 – 56. Jesus said to them, I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

Is this not enough to catapult us into instant praise to our Jesus? In whatever mind we may be at the moment, to hear these words, deep within us, is in itself life and health and peace and joy. In unwavering thanks, with unmuffled voice, we give praise, upon praise to Jesus.

However you are led to worship our Lord and Saviour in praise, will you share in this fellowship of praise, as we join the hymn writer in a time of pure praise? Before us, is a stanza and chorus of one of Christendom’s most loved and sung hymns of praise, by Fanny Crosby.

Praise Him, Praise Him! Jesus our blessed redeemer,
For our sins, He suffered, and bled, and died,
He our rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him, Hail Him! Jesus the crucified,
Sound His praises, Jesus who bore our sorrows,
Love unbounded, wonderful, deep, and strong.

Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness,
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song

In this week, we shall continue our focus, looking specifically at the marvellously, wonderful Blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. It is with deep, unmuffled praises to our Blessed Redeemer, we travel on. It is with a consciousness of

  • Leaving our old ways

  • Emptying ourselves of all that is displeasing to God

  • Nullifying any and every idea, word and work of the world

  • Turning back to our Master, Lord and Saviour, that we continue.

We continue our travels in Lent, having a heart-full of praise, to be offered more on the Blood of Jesus, which takes away the sin of the world.
