Miracle In Moving

From looking up and seeing what scared them to death, the children of God are now looking ahead to the ferocious waters before them. But behold! Even before they have time to complain, in fact, as they move on looking ahead, they see, not the sea only, but a road cut through the sea for them.

I must pause here to say that I have lived long enough, to hear preachers explain this miracle in terms of pure unbelief. They have taken positions and given explanations and expositions that could almost persuade you to believe as they preach and teach. I can’t explain any miracle, for they are all unbelievable to me. However, I thank God for a very simple faith, a foolish faith, some may even call it, which allows me to believe in a God who showed Himself to Abraham when Sarah laughed at what God said He would do. The LORD asked Abraham, why did Sarah laugh and say, Will I really have a child, now that I am old? Is anything too hard for the LORD? Genesis 18: 13 – 14a. And so I hear the Lord asking me, you and all who believe in His omnipotence, Is there anything too hard for Me to do?

The Lord gave Moses this instruction. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14: 16. You may not know how God is going to get you through a most scary, terrifying situation, whether by using human hands, or the hands of angels. Just believe and know that He can and will do what is totally impossible to humans and human nature. Our God is Lord of all!

We have been looking at this verse of Scripture, As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD.  Exodus 14: 10.

We have discussed things about looking up and becoming mortally afraid. However, we were just as quickly brought to a sense of spiritual normalcy, faith and confidence in our One True, Living God, for whom nothing is impossible and nothing is too hard for Him to do. What He says He will do, He will do, making it happen as He says.

For the closing of today’s offering and tomorrow’s conclusion, we shall be looking, with zealously curious eyes, at another, Looking Up. We will not be looking at the responses of the children of God, who looked up and saw what terrified them. We shall, be looking at a child of God who looked up and saw what totally stirred his faith and trust in God.

Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. Genesis 18: 2

Who is Abraham? He is a child of God whom God has called; a child of God who is living in obedience to God; a child of God who is where he is at the moment, through obedience to God.  We are told that Abraham, like the children of God, is relaxing by his tent. This is what Scripture informs us. The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Genesis 18: 1. This is really interesting and extremely fascinating, as first, we are told that God appeared to Abraham, then we are told that Abraham looked up and saw three people. Has God come to visit Abraham in three persons? Not impossible, for there is nothing too hard for God to do. Was Abraham expecting this happening? Was he sitting there in the heat of the day, waiting for some miraculous sign, or wonder from God? No! Absolutely not. This resting, or sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day was normal and usual. Seeing visitors was nothing strange either, but today, what Abraham saw when he looked up, was extra special and most privileged indeed. He saw the Lord in His chosen forms. The Lord God chose to come to earth in the form of those three visitors.

Do you believe that?
