Triumphs

Today, we are searching the given text for triumphs, as Advent is a time of triumphs. Here is the text which was given to us yesterday. In addition to the NIV, I have also quoted the KJV.

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2: 12 NIV

And this will be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  Luke 2: 12 KJV

Triumphs of our God

Our celebrated triumphs in this text, come in two-fold manner. We must always remember that this is all about the First Coming of Messiah, God’s Promise to His people. This being the case, we can celebrate in triumph, in our Sovereign God, who made a promise to His people, our fore-parents, which has been passed down to us. Faith allows us to triumphantly celebrate our Creator and Ruler, Lord of all the earth, in that no forces on the earth or under the earth, had power to impact, inform or interfere in any way, with this promise and prophecy of the Birth of Messiah. We celebrate the triumphs of our God’s Lordship, so that we too can live in His triumphs, knowing that He is Lord of all. What is your Take-Away here?

Another triumph comes in the fact that even though our fore-parents became a rebellious and disgusting people, God still kept His promise. He never changed His mind, even when evil ruled in the lives of His beloved people and all that He made and saw as good, became all putrid and detestable in His eyes. We celebrate the triumphs of our ever faithful and ever forgiving Father God, so that we too can come before Him in penitence and know His forgiveness. His faithfulness to us is beyond our thinking and asking.

What is your Take-Away here?

Yet another triumph, which we can and must celebrate in our merciful and faithful God, is that He Himself brought His prophecy and promise to fulfilment. Think about it for a moment. As mundane as it may sound, there is victory for us here. The God whom we believe in and serve, did this all on His own, by His Spoken Word. He never ever asked for any kind of help from any beings - earthly or heavenly – for He is Creator of all beings. He is the Almighty, Sovereign One! We celebrate the triumphs of our Almighty, Supreme, All-Sufficient, All-powerful God, knowing beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is absolutely nothing that is beyond His power. He is LORD!

What is your Take-Away here?

Who then is Messiah? The word Messiah means, ‘Anointed One’ and this is given clarity in Daniel 9: 25 – 26a. I have quoted the NIV, then the KJV.

Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens’ and sixty-two ‘sevens’. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens’, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself.

We are bold to believe, receive and publish in our mortal lives, amidst all the ravages of sin, the triumphs of the grace and goodness of Messiah, Anointed One, Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord.

Tomorrow, as our Lord so wills, we shall continue to carefully search our text for Treasures and what will be our Take-Away.
