Time Of Repentance

As we begin a new week, let us be ever mindful that our Heavenly Father has given every single one of us, another new beginning. Look around you and you will observe, among other things, that He has no partialism nor favouritism in whom He has chosen to give this new beginning. I know that He does not show any kind of favouritism for, and I must confess here, if I had a job of determining who is given another day and who is not, I certainly would never choose a wicked, evil person. Anyone who delights in wounding, maiming, terrorizing and causing others to be terribly afraid for their lives and live in constant fear and dread, would not be granted the privilege of seeing another new day, far more a new week. But this definitely is not Father God. He gives all people chances or opportunities to repent and know changed lives.

I know for myself, that I am thankful for the opportunity to repent of all my wrongs, and to seek our Lord’s saving grace. As simplistic and even a bit unnecessary as it may be, each time it is told to me, or each time I hear it being mentioned, I take full note. It is a phrase which a conscientious, new friend loves to say to me. He is always talking about being, “above ground,” and as I mentioned, each time he says it, I quietly thank God for the opportunity I have to draw closer to Him.

On this Lord’s Day Sunday, this is not just a new opportunity, but will you join me in making this day, a time of repentance? Will you come to God confessing that He is Just and Holy and that He does not show favouritism? Will you come into His Presence, mindful that you have sinned and done things which are displeasing in His sight? Will you see yourself as undeserving of this privilege of another new day, and know that His love and mercy are beyond description?

Let us pray and ask the Holy Spirit to save us from all deceit, that we may see ourselves as we truly are in relation to Jesus and not in relation to other humans. I have learnt and am learning daily that when I stand myself up against the woman who was just caught and found guilty of stealing thousands of dollars from her workplace, I see me as better than she is, for I do not rob people. What about you? Then I’m made to hear these words, loudly and clearly. Malachi 3: 8 – 10 NKJV. Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me But you say, IN what way have we robbed You? In tithes and offerings! You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. And try Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. Lord! Have mercy upon us and teach us how to be different.

Let us continue to pray and ask God to lift our minds and eyes from the murderer, speaking about him with disdain and shock that a human being can kill another in cold blood. I see me as way better and more holy than such a man, for I see myself as far removed from such wickedness and evil. What about you? Then our Lord’s voice rings through hard. You have heard that it was said to the people long ago. You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment. But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister, Raca, is answerable to the court. And anyone who says you fool! Will be in danger of the fire of hell. Matthew 5: 21 – 22.

Lord! Have mercy upon us and teach us how to be different.

Aware and mindful of the Mind of our God, we look forward to a week which highlights this Nature of God.
