On this third Lord’s Day Sunday in Lent, we stand victoriously, as people who have not turned back from following our Lord in this special time. We have been enlightened and made aware of so many truths, we simply lay at the feet of Jesus, drinking and feeding sumptuously and freely on His every Word. Our Lord has been generous with us, giving freely without cost, for nothing is bought from Him. He has been patient with us, speaking over and over to us in our erroneous and often blatantly disobedient manner. He has given us opportunity after opportunity to repent and turn back to following Him as He dictates, so that we could enjoy life with Him, and in Him. It is by grace, through faith that we receive and live.
All truth is made known to us by God the Holy Spirit. Jesus has already made this promise to us about the Holy Spirit. When He comes, He will do these things for all who believe and do not doubt. Jesus said it and not one Word from His Divine lips will fall to the ground, having not accomplished what it set out to accomplish. Listen to just these two passages of Scripture, which quote the crystal clear, uncomplicated, Words of Jesus.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14: 26 NKJV
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will tell you things to come. John 16: 13 NKJV
What has struck me and continues to resonate in me and with me, is the fact that Jesus has told us that the Holy Ghost will not just teach us all things, but whatever Jesus has taught, He will reinforce and bring to our remembrance. Additionally, Jesus makes it quite clear that He, the Holy Spirit, will not speak on His own authority, but He will speak what He hears. The Holy Spirit is a good listener and a good speaker. Since He is the Spirit of Truth, we look to Him for all truth, whatever it may be.
During this week we are seeking Him for truth on Jesus as Healer. We have seen the Power of God to do mightily among believers and non-believers. We have seen His Almightiness, as He shows Himself Supreme Ruler, whether in His House or the house of a false, human-made god.
Ask any Christian, whether or not Jesus is alive and the overwhelming, united response from that population asked will be a resounding; Yes! Jesus is alive! Ask the same population of people, whether or not Jesus is alive and bearing His fruit, His Spiritual fruit, in each of them and the responses begin to wobble a bit. Some will give a definitive; Yes! Jesus is bearing His Spiritual fruit in me. Others will say, I think He is, or I believe He is. Still others will say, I’m not sure, I believe so, but I’m not a hundred percent certain. Still there are those who will say outright, I do not know. Few, if any, will boldly confess and say, No! Jesus is bearing no fruit in me.
So where has this taken us? For one sure thing it has taken you to a place in heart and mind where, you cannot dodge the question and must answer it before the Holy Spirit. Now comes the real path to be travelled this week and it will be traversed in the way you have responded to the question of Jesus being alive. Here is the question being asked this week.
Is Jesus still the same Healer He was in Bible days?
