Our meditation today, will focus on two actions of the Right Hand of God. We shall take them separately.

Here is stanza two.

The right hand of God is pointing in our land, Pointing the way we must go, So clouded is the way, So easily we stray, But we're guided by the right hand of God.

POINTING

The second action work of God’s Right Hand is pointing. He is pointing in our place, our Church community, our fellowship groups, and it is Just Right and fitting, what He is pointing out. The Scripture tells us that, they came near. Then he said: I am Joseph your brother. Has not brother Joseph pointed out the truth to them, of whom he is? They are with him, but they don’t know that he is their brother. Believe it or not, Jesus, is still pointing out Himself to many of us. The truth is that what we are seeing in this exposed scene of Joseph and his brothers, is most typical and unarguably true of us with Brother Jesus. For various reasons we stand, sit or kneel in the presence of our Brother, as Leader, as Sovereign, as His Majesty, and as The Most High God, the King, but the truth is that we never ever recognize Jesus simply as our Brother.

The Right Hand of Father God, through His given Holy Spirit, is pointing out to us even now, that unless we recognize Jesus as our Brother, we will continue to forfeit the grace of His coming, Incarnate. We will totally be dead to the fact that He is not just our Divine Benefactor, but He is our human Brother. Here is one benefit of this truth. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2: 18. God’s Right Hand is pointing out this truth, by giving it public attention. He earnestly wants us to know God the Son, so closely and personally that we can believe and know Him as our Brother.

Here now is the third stanza.

The right hand of God is striking in our land, Striking out at envy, hate, and greed. Our selfishness and lust, Our pride and deeds unjust, Are destroyed by the right hand of God

STRIKING

The third action work of God’s Right Hand is striking. He is striking in our Church family, our neighbourhood, our community gatherings, at play and at work, and it is Just Right and fitting, what He is striking out at. The Scripture tells us some hitting and convicting words of Joseph, when he informs his siblings that he is their brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.

To strike means to hit, but it also means to bring people to attention with what you are saying or showing them. These words of Joseph are consciously and deliberately heart-striking and head-striking, to bring them into awareness and truth of what is taking place, between them; brothers against brother. Can’t you feel the striking, awakening Hand of God, so very Right and Fitting, exposing how we have totally hurt our Lord, His Son? Do you hear Peter’s Holy Spirit, empowered Words, striking at our guilty hearts? Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Acts 2: 22 & 36 – 37.

Indeed, is it not through striking, stinging, truthful words that we are brought to deep repentance? God’s Right Hand is striking so that through His providence, we are able to receive pardon and relief from our Brother, against whom we have sinned and continue to do so.
