The Fields

Here is our different yet arresting text, which at first sight has absolutely nothing to do with Pentecost. However, with enabled ears, and tongues by the outpouring Holy Ghost, all who do not truly know the, Good Gift, of the Holy Spirit, will receive Him as never known before.

Not in part, God the Holy Ghost, but the whole. Amen!

Our Week’s Text. Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor. Ruth 2: 2b. These are the words which Ruth, the Moabitess daughter-in-law of Naomi, speaks to her.

What is the setting or backdrop to these words of Ruth? We shall look at four backdrops, fully believing in faith that we all will know, in our present working for the Lord, a truly different, new and bountiful time of harvest.

Holy Spirit, our Guide, Counselor, Helper and Enabler, make this time a harvest time for me please. I am where I am because of Your grace and mercy and I give You thanks. Let me not be plagued by laziness, lackadaisicalness, lethargy or lingering, when I’m in the midst of Your bounty. Show me what I can do and ought to do in Your fields. Amen!

Backdrop 1 - The Fields

It is a time when the fields are all ripe for harvesting. This is harvest time. There is a place and time for every activity of planting, sowing, growing and reaping. There can be no mistake about the times, for that which needs to be harvested is fully before you. No one plants in harvest time. No one sows in reaping time. No one scatters in gathering time. Additionally, we know that only God gives harvest, so only He gives growth. This is what we are told and believe, for this is what Jesus said in His parable of – ‘The Growing Seed’. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain – first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come. Mark 4: 27 - 29

We have also been told, this acceptable and ready truth about our Lord. Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 2 Corinthians 9: 10.

How does this translate to you today? This is the time of Holy Spirit outpouring. It is harvest time in the Holy Spirit.

Let us not forget that the Feast of Pentecost was a Jewish Festival known by many names, including the Feast of the First Fruits. It was the time, at the beginning of harvest, when people brought to Jehovah their fruits. It was a time of thanksgiving, for the first fruits which God had given to them.

The Spirit's fields are all ripe and ready to make power witnesses for Jesus, who will do all that is needed to bring in a harvest of souls for the Lord.

One time, after Peter had been working, fishing for an entire night, he and his friends had caught nothing, not even one sprat. Jesus comes on the scene and sends Peter out to fish. You see, it became a bountiful harvest for Peter and his friends, when Jesus prepared the harvest field. It is God and God alone, without the help of humans, who still prepares His harvest, for He is the one and only harvest Giver.

If, through the Holy Spirit’s filling, you are in the field of obedience, to accept and believe, you who have been waiting on knowing the Holy Spirit in power, right now, today, you can receive the filling as you have never received before. The field of the Holy Spirit is ripe and ready for receiving. How is your faith?
