The Dart Of Betrayal

But Ziba my servant betrayed me.

A man’s servant has betrayed him. Now that is indeed a dart of transgression, for the servant has quickly turned on his master. Ziba is no ordinary servant in this royal family, for he has been the steward of Saul’s household.

Now that King Saul and his son Jonathan are deceased, Ziba is the pledged servant of Mephibosheth, who is King Saul’s grandson. Mephibosheth is no ordinary man either, for he is crippled in both legs and depends heavily on his servant Ziba. All is going well, until news of the return of King David as king of all Israel, is imminent. Ziba has been sure of all the lands of Saul going to him, but now, with King David’s return, he obviously has some, not too honourable, ulterior motives.

This servant, pledged to his master; this servant, who has been with his master and on whom Mephibosheth depended and trusted, turns enemy on him. Ziba shoots a nasty dart of betrayal, transgressing all that he had pledged in the beginning. Ziba has not transgressed against an enemy, but his own master, in whose house he and his huge family have been living freely, happily and sumptuously. Note here! The betrayed one only knows that he has been betrayed, after the fact. He never saw the dart of betrayal, coming.

What about you? What darts of betrayal are you using against Jesus and His servants? Never deceive yourself, Jesus can be betrayed. He was betrayed and He still is, not by enemies, but by His pledged servants as you and I are. I bring one personal testimony before you, in deep repentance, having been shown my persistent, continuous, daily betrayal of my Lord and Master Jesus.

Jesus has told me to bring all my burdens to Him. He knows that they are too much for me to carry and bear. He sees how heavy my burdens are and how extremely difficult it is for me to carry my yoke. He tells me, in the presence of the listening world, that if I give them all to Him, He will take them and give me His burden to carry and His yoke to bear, instead. Then, for all to hear, with carnal ears even, my Master openly published this statement. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11: 30

We agreed that I will come to Him, since I am weary and heavily laden. He trusted that I would do as I said, give Him all that is mine and take all that is His, since I am now carrying His Name and Nature in His Holy Spirit. However, when the world looks at me, when anybody looks at me, what do they see? They see and hear me confessing Jesus and His Holy Spirit in my life, while still carrying my own, unbearable burdens and heavy yoke. Now, that is downright betrayal of one who is a servant of Jesus.

Perhaps this is not you, but you need to listen, hear and know whether or not you are, this day, as the Lord’s servant, throwing darts of betrayal against Him and His Living Word.

May the Holy Spirit speak all truth in you and to you.
