Special Lord's Day Sunday

Today is a very special Lord’s Day Sunday being celebrated in many Western countries and beyond, as Mother’s Day. This day has become so commercialized, even in some parts of Britain, for example, where Mothering Sunday is celebrated earlier in the year, this day is still recognized.

We take time to come before Almighty God on behalf of all mothers, women who have given biological and spiritual birth to many and few. We thank God for the love, discipline, sacrifices and selflessness of mothers, whose love we admire. I’m not that naïve to think that all mothers fit the description above, but I am confident enough to believe that God made mothers with special gifts, given only to them.

Yes, on this special Sunday we recognize mothers, and offer them all up before Father God, with this special prayer and poem.

Thank God for mothers His special gift,

And so these gems before God we lift,

With sincerest praise and thankful heart,

For mothers gentle, stern, wise and smart,

O God of wisdom, God who’s all true,

All our mothers we now bring to You,

Look down upon them with Your good grace,

May they often know Your smiling face,

And when they must carry burdens great,

We ask they learn more with You to relate,

When they feel unappreciated,

Unloved, shunned and depreciated,

Fill their hearts with Your comfort and peace,

Grant them the grace of perfect release.

Mothers, we love you, God bless and keep you,

Ever look to Him, He’s King and true.
