On this final Lord’s Day Sunday in September, we have come mindful and fully aware of our needs, with different feelings, different mindsets and different dispositions. Many a believer has been plagued by doubts, uncertainties and disappointments, which have eroded their faith and trust, adding double worry onto all their already laboriously and detrimentally troubled lives.

Today, on this last Lord’s Day Sunday, the first day of the last week in the New Church year, as a part of the Church, as a living and active member, I share this Word, this living, quickening Word with you. This word targets all of you like me, who are members of The Body of Christ, all of you who are members, but not yet in the fold and all who will be brought into the fold, by the all-persuasive and all-receiving Word of God.

It is God who has given us this day and the privilege of seeing it. It is God who has called us to be His children and who has loved His own, though many of His own do not love Him. It is because of Father God’s Superior Love, Love that is not afraid to seek and search and call and snatch people, at risk people and those for whom death stares in the face, that we have come. We accept, believe and receive with the boldness of hope and the fullness of faith that we can be saved, are being saved along with many others also who can still be saved.

Is this not the attitude we find in Paul, God’s sent servant to the Gentiles? Listen to him, as he speaks openly and unashamedly of what he is prepared to do, and does do, to save another. Capture the onus he puts on himself, the load he is joyfully willing to carry, just to be able to save another sinner.

Though I am free and belong to no man, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews, I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law, I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am weak in Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. 1 Corinthians 9: 19 – 23.

When this faithful servant of God speaks of, all possible means, surely, the aggressive action of snatching people from the fire of hell is named.

We also listen to another faithful servant of Jesus, one who had the distinct privilege of knowing Jesus in the flesh. I refer to Jude, the brother of James, as he exhorts believers and followers, the Church, to keep themselves ready and always fixed, to receive Christ at any time. More so, he urges them all and fires them up to be even more vigilant and efficient Salvation Savers. This is what he says. Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear – hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Jude 1: 22 - 23

When this faithful servant of God speaks of, all possible means, surely, the aggressive action of snatching people from the fire of hell is named.

For the remainder of the week, we shall be focused on Salvation Savers.

Bless us Lord, as we are given this unprecedented privilege. Amen!
