We are in a perfect place, a desired place and a most strategic place, if by faith and in faith, we have died to ourselves and all we hold a tight rein on, as knowledge and truth. This includes all that we have guarded and held sacred as traditional righteousness; everything that has kept us going over the years with no change in spiritual growth; all our religious pride and complacency which secretly tell us that we are okay, and there is no need for giving up everything. Most deceiving, there is our stubborn blindness in seeing that we are not really pleasing Father God, when we think that we are doing so.

By faith, which is the only way to please God, may we hear and heed what is being offered to us, who are part of the family of God.

Here is our first Salvation Saver Truth. Trim your feeble lamp my brother.

In this Salvation Saver Truth, there is a foundational fact which too many of us have died to. You see, the mere fact that you and I are being called to work on our lamps, tells us two very obvious facts of truth. It tells us that we have lamps or more precisely and unarguably so, that we are lamps or lights.

How Scriptural is such a statement about you and me, all professed believers in Jesus, all Christians, being lamps or lights? We are brought back to basics as it were, to the beginning of our walk with Jesus, when we followed Him as His disciples and listened to Him speak those most pointing and commanding words.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14 -16.

Never forget, Jesus did not speak this to the world. Matthew tells us that Jesus was sitting on a mountainside, when His disciples came to Him. It was then, to His disciples that He began to teach them many things, including their responsibility to the world as lamps or lights. There is nothing we can do to hide from this Salvation Truth, run from it, deny it, or think that we are exempt from it. As long as we are believers, following Jesus, you and I are His lamps right now, in this world.

The second very obvious and glaring fact is that an untrimmed lamp is a feeble light and this is in direct and total disobedience to Jesus’ call for each of us to have spreading lights, so that others may see God’s Saving Light in the ways we shine for Him. They will see the Lord’s Light and give undeniable praise to our Father in heaven.

I ask you: -

Do you know and acknowledge that as a professing Christian, you are Jesus’ lamp?

Are you being obedient to Jesus and shining for Him in this hour, so that others are seeing your good deeds and praising your Father in heaven?

Is your lamp strong and brightly shining so that those in need of salvation from all ills, can receive your power light in the Spirit and come to the Lord? Or is your lamp feeble, clouded and crowded by worries, cares, unbelief, stresses and more, so that your light is as one hidden under a bowl?

May God the Holy Spirit bring you and me into all truth. May He truly help us and lead us to see ourselves in Salvation Saving Light. Amen!

As we are led, in personal truth and confession, we continue in the way we are to go.
