Revisiting Healing in the Word

Today, the single objective is to fix and focus our minds back on how God views and deals with healing. Indeed! Beyond the shadow of a doubt, we are given the Holy Spirit as our Teacher and Guide, but remember, He is also the Person who is bringing us to the correct mind, in our day and time, concerning healing.
You and I will agree that this is absolutely necessary in our day and age, when healing, Spiritual healing, is fast dying a natural death, as medical healing is fast becoming the one and only way of healing. Faith healing is becoming a thing for the past, for Bible days, and not very relevant and suited for our modern day believers. I say this without apology, for all around, the talk for and of healing and help given to the unwell, is about medical assistance. Listen to others who are ill, yes listen carefully, even though you may be ill and gravely ill at that, but just you listen. If not everyone, the vast majority of people speak of what doctors are doing, what medication is doing, what tablets are doing and suchlike.
Do you hear voices like that of the centurion who speaks words of faith to Jesus, through messengers? Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. Matthew 8: 8b.
Do you see faces lit up with faith to be healed? Paul looked directly at a lame man, one unable to walk from birth and saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, Stand up on your feet! At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. Acts 14: 9b – 10.
Unfortunately, where I am, such faith is rare, almost non-existent, to be truthful and I stand among them. Healing by faith and faith alone is, as I said, fast becoming a Biblical wonder, that which we can view, feel good about, and speak of as what Jesus used to do in those days. It is nothing for me to read or quote Jesus’ Words to John the Baptist, through two of John’s disciples, who are to report to John just what they have seen and heard of Jesus. But exactly what have they seen and heard? The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Matthew 11: 5
Just being reminded of these we know that Jesus’ work is that of Healer and He loves His work, for it is what His Father sent Him to earth to do. But we are being reminded that we worship and serve a Triune God and the Godhead is also about healing. Having seen about God the Son and healing we look at what is said about God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
If you diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer. Exodus 15: 26 ESV
Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise. Jeremiah 17: 14
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. Acts 10: 38
Filled with all these reminders about Healing and the Healer, we further embark upon a discourse on Jesus the Healer.
