Revealing God

On this Lord’s Day Sunday, we come, carrying in our very lives, the breath we breathe, the grace and mercy of our Ever Living, Ever Loving God. We come because we believe in the One, True God and will give Him and no other, all honour and glory.

On this first day of a brand new week, let us never take God’s gift of life for granted. It is very easy to do so, when we become all caught up in the busyness of our lives – our responsibilities, our health, our trials, our worries, our cares, our joys and our triumphs – all these and more. It is terribly easy to become so distracted and held by them, that our Heavenly Father becomes only a Name to be uttered. He has revealed, that many are unashamed of calling His Name and saying that we are His, but we are not in the least bit bothered that we are not living His life in us.

When Jesus told the parable of, The Sower, He said this. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Matthew 13: 7. When Jesus interpreted it for His disciples, this is what He said. The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. Matthew 13: 22.

Jesus Himself has observed and has revealed the fact that there are persons who hear and receive His Living Word, but His good, perfect and powerful Word is choked and made unfruitful in the hearer, because of two things, worry and deceitfulness. Worries of this life, choke the Living Word in them. Deceitfulness of wealth, choke the Living Word in them.

Are you hearing and seeing what is being revealed to us in bright, unmasked, open viewing? Is not Jesus telling us about the power of worry and deceit, to make His Word in us, unfruitful, no good to us? Is He not saying that regardless of the quantity and quality of His Word in our hearts, we will never receive what the Word can do in us, because it is choked, stifled, killed and made of no good, because of sin? Yes, sin! Don’t we know that worry and deceitfulness are not of God? Don’t we know that they are enemies of God and anything that is not of God is of Satan? Don’t we know that what is not good is evil and evil is sin?

We thank You Father, for revealing this truth to us. Holy Spirit, on this Lord’s Day we offer up ourselves to You. We come and remain, because we want to be led, guided and taught by You as You reveal things to us. We desire all that our Heavenly Father desires for us. We receive all that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, died to give us. Holy Spirit, teach us obedience in all You say. Amen!

Throughout this week, we will be made aware of the power of sin, so that in the Spirit and with the Spirit, we will not have our Lord’s Living Word choked in us, rendering us unfruitful.
