Today is the first Lord’s Day Sunday in this New Academic and Ecclesiastical Year. Today we come remembering that there is covenant for us. Regardless of what is, will be, or promises to be different, new and changed for us, regardless of its significance or insignificance, stake your faith on God and God alone.

I begin by offering you a few words from last week, which have been invaluable as a constant companion, reminder and instigator, strengthening faith in some most marvellous and surprising ways. I quote.

On this ending of a mixed week, know this word of covenant. Just as God made this new covenant and brought it all to Abraham, will you not see the same with you? It is God, not you, who initiated this covenant. It is His desire, His will, not yours, that you be lifted and receive of His bounty. He is God, therefore He is able to add to what you have, and who you are. Not for me, you say, not for me. Yes for you, I say, yes for you. Why not believe that the Lord still does what seems impossible to you?
May you be moved to believe. Amen!

Having reminded you that God’s bounty, His abundant living here on this earth, is for you, why will you still doubt? Why continue to look around and think that His promised life, His life in all its fullness, is not for you? That you are reading this, whenever you read it, glance at it or even turn it away, is perfect testimony to the fact that Sovereign Father God has brought you to this hour. He has kept you and brought you into this new beginning. You cannot doubt that our Heavenly Father has given you this moment for you are living it. In the same way, you cannot doubt that He has made covenant with you for with this new beginning comes new hope, new opportunities, new thoughts and new desires to receive all that our Father offers us, through His Precious Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus.

Will you continue to believe that you are in covenant with Father God, a Father who never will break His covenant with you? Will you be stubborn in taking Him at His Word and see yourself in covenant relationship with Him? He has given you faith, however big or small, use what you have to stand on your Heavenly Father’s Word.

Having lived the first two days of this month of September, this time of New Beginnings, let us acknowledge this First Lord’s Day Sunday, with resurrection zeal and empowerment, as we raise our beings to God in sacrificial praise and thanks.

Again, we offer ourselves to You, O Holy God, as You continue to offer Yourself to us in Your Son, through Your Holy Spirit. Amen!

During the month of September, this month of new ventures, new experiences, new understanding, new discoveries and new and better living in Jesus, we look forward to what our Heavenly Father has already prepared for us – old or new – for whatever He offers is only to our continued building up in loving Him and each other.

We continue this week with the old made new.
