When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. Luke 2: 22
You need to know the discipline and grace of purification, because it is the Lord’s Way of bringing you and making you perfectly fit to offer your gift to Him. Understand this clearly, for without obedience to God’s Will and Way, you will be walking the path of unacceptance. Joseph and Mary are the chosen, human vessels who are to take Jesus to the temple, to offer Him to the Lord God. But it is not Jesus who needs to be first purified. He is to be taken, as He has been given. It is the carriers, those who carry Jesus, who need to be purified first.
This is no different from what is required of God’s Word, given to you. The Word is already in your hands. Our Jesus is the Word. The Word is perfect and ready in your hands but you are the one to be made right and ready to take the Word to the place God has ordained, to offer it up. There is nothing wrong with the Word I have given to you this Covenant Week. You have the perfect Word for those who will hear it. What the Lord requires of you is for you to now focus on yourself, as the servant given the grace to bear His Word. You need to be purified, to be made right and ready, so that you will know refreshing, in order to offer the Lord’s Word.
The Lord has given you much, but He has also given you the Gift of His Son Jesus Christ. He still continues to be born to many, in different ways. You have been given His Word made flesh and you are the one to offer this living Word, back to the Lord. Before you do so, you need to know the purification prescribed.
What is purification and what does it do? Look again at Joseph and Mary. They were the ones God handpicked to be the caring parents of His Son, during the time He was a little child. God was the Person who advised them, guided them and granted them safety throughout. These were God-led parents, if ever there were such. Yet, even when they were perfectly in the Will of God, they could not offer up their precious gift, without due care and attention to themselves. In this purification process, they had to turn their attention to themselves. They had to understand that what they had to endure was to be able to offer God their gift, according to God. They had to go through this time, knowing that at the end, their gift would be perfectly offered to and accepted by the Lord.
Your purification then, is that which the Lord requires of you, so that you will be made pure, in His eyes and according to His Will, to bring the gift He has given to you, in dedication. In your surrender to His Will, you will be made pure, for obedience is far better than sacrifice.
