Produce In Prayer

We have received learning through Jesus’ empowering of His disciples and instructing them to be single-layered servants. Are not the Twelve, in this mission, being witnesses of the Son of God, in human flesh? Are they not being their Lord and Master, Jesus, to those whom they meet? They are able to respond, because they have been given Power, Purpose and Promise of Jesus. They are able to respond in faith and trust, removed from all doubts, all worry, all care and all fears; all the human things which will adversely affect their Lord’s desire in this mission. Jesus remains their unmoveable help. Jesus is the same to you and to me also, believers whom He has sent out to do His bidding in prayer.

Here we are, after seeing how Jesus has given His Authority to them, and instruction to them, about what they are to wear and are not to wear, and their responses to those people whom they will meet, we pause. We pause to get it fixed in our minds that the Twelve accept and obey Jesus’ every Word. They neither refute nor question anything that He has spoken to them. It is in this obedience and faith that they go to do the work of the Lord.

Now we have come to the fourth and final thing which Jesus gives to His disciples. It is His Produce. If produce means that which is born out of, or from something, then the disciples are given produce. If produce means fruit, which is attained after working or labouring, then fruit has been attained. If produce means reaping the benefits of one’s planting, then benefits have been given. If produce means receiving victory or success, in a specific area of working, then the disciples surely have received victory in what they were commissioned to do.

Let us never forget that we are learning about Jesus, the Victor and His disciples. I ask you, how can they fail, if they have His Authority, and they have obeyed His instructions? Jesus is Victory! Jesus guarantees victory, even by His unseen Presence with them. What too many of us fail to accept, is that victory is given to all His obedient servants, even before they set out on His mission. This is no different from God giving Joshua victory, for example, even before Joshua and the army of God did one stroke of fighting. Here’s a familiar verse to pull us back into God’s reality, not ours. The LORD said to Joshua, See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with the king and his fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Joshua 6: 2 – 3. The point to be clearly noted, is that even before God’s servant carried out a single instruction of God, even before a finger was moved, or in this case, a foot was moved, Joshua and the Israelites were given victory. Is this not the same way Almighty, Sovereign God works and still works? What we see and hear of Jesus, is what is of His Father, for He and the Father are One. It is what the Holy Ghost works in us also, for He, the Father and the Son are One.

We need to listen, with jealously hungry minds and hearts, to the produce these disciples received, that which has been promised to us also. They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. Mark 6: 12 – 13. Now, is this not the produce their Lord and Master gave to them?

This same Jesus has called you to serve Him in prayer and He has given you His Produce in Prayer, for He is the One who has told His disciples these words. So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11: 9 – 10.  For the first time, it is hitting me squarely in the face that Prayer and Produce do not just go hand in hand, but they are inseparable.

You have the Produce of Prayer germinated and growing in you.

Pray and Receive!
