Picture Of Jesus

On this first day in a new month, we cannot but pause, when our minds so vividly remind us of all sorts of things about a fast fleeing life.

Some of us, although we are believers, still feel the cold hands of anxiety, uncertainty and even dread, touching us in all parts. Hearts and minds are sometimes trapped by these life-chilling hands, as the picture of life around us and within us, is gloomy, without much hope. But there is hope, for Jesus, Conqueror of hell, death and the grave, is our Victorious Lord, our Abundant Life, our Faithful Love, our Sacrificial Lamb and our Undimmed Light.

PAINT ME A PICTURE OF JESUS

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Lord,

He who still is the sinner’s reward,

For by grace through His mercies, we believe,

That His gift of life is what we’ll receive;

For where sin abounds, the measure of grace,

Abounds even more, for who can replace,

The finished work Jesus on the cross wrought,

When He paid the ransom and sinners bought;

With His shed blood Jesus gave life to me,

With His precious blood, He has set me free,

To live a new life through His grace alone:
With His heart He replaced my heart of stone.

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Life,

He who is peace, in times of inner strife,

For when doubts and great fears my mind bombard,

Shouting how Christ for me has no regard,

Showing me I’m given no part or place,

Of His mighty and wondrous works of grace;

He rescues me from the place of despair,

And grants me the ears of faith that will hear,

Then He gives me the eyes of hope to see,

That He, my Lord has not forgotten me;

To live a new life in His arms of care:
With His life, He removed my life fear.

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Love,

He who’s my blessedness, sent from above,

When I see my weakness and utter shame,

And I have no one else but me to blame,

When I am pursued by the enemy,

Well- known as stress, with its partner worry,

It is so easy to become their prey,

As over them you’ve no control or sway;

But Jesus comes to my rescue and aid,

I suddenly am no longer afraid;

To live a new life in His Love unmatched:
With His Love Jesus my fading life snatched.

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Lamb.

He who is my Saviour, the Great I Am,

Who tells me He is the Truth and the Way,

That on Calvary, one dark gloomy day,

He gave His life my sin and debt to pay;

The blood of the Lamb, was so freely shed,

As He took sin’s punishment in my stead,

The price of my sins, in His flesh He bore,

So that in Him, now and forevermore,

I can be free of all condemnation;

To live a new life, in mercy and grace:
With His blood He put me in Heaven’s place.

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Light,

He who gives vision, e’en to human sight,

Showing He’s the Light, who darkness removes,

Light for all people, as He daily proves,

That He‘s no respecter of race or creed,

And that for the penitent He’ll always plead;

He saw me lost, in sin’s darkness and shame,

And called me to Him, calling me by name,

Not the name of sinner as I deserved,

But the name of love, as my needs He served;

To live a new life, in surpassing peace:
With His Light on Life, I have a new lease.

Paint me a picture of Jesus my Lord,

He, who for sinners His blood did afford,

When on the cross for me, He gave His Life,

Granting pardon from sin and inner strife;

He did this blest work of measureless Love,

When He came to earth from His throne above,

He’s Redeemer, Saviour, God’s precious Lamb

Through Him I’m saved and cleansed, O yes I am;

It is He who makes me, His child of Light

Now He is my portion and my delight:

Paint me a picture of Jesus in me:
And let the whole world, His grace in me see.

                             Amen!

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
