Many questions have been asked on the day of Pentecost, however, this is the Pentecost question chosen for us, as we go through the remainder of the week. Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? Acts 2: 8.
This is the question being asked by men and women, God-fearing Jews, who have come to stay in Jerusalem, to celebrate their Feast of the Passover. These God-fearing people have been literally drawn away from everything they have been doing on that day and at that time, to come and see what is really happening. They are hearing what is total madness; chaos, unbelievably scary stuff.
Here they are, going about the celebratory living of visitors, to Jerusalem, when they are arrested by this phenomenon. These God-fearing Jews are hearing their language being spoken by strange voices, and being done so, O so loudly. Here are three facts for you to see, hear and know about the Pentecostal prophesying of the Holy Spirit manifesting Himself in His chosen vessels.
Even before you receive these revelations, keep this truth uppermost in your minds. The people who are asking this question, Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? are devout, God-fearing Jews, who are serious about their God and their religion. The very fact that they are in Jerusalem at this time is sound evidence. Yes, these people know about Jehovah, for they read, hear and listen to the Scriptures daily. On the Sabbath, they can be found in the synagogue worshipping and listening to the Scriptures.
With this background knowledge, we receive the three teaching points. Note, they all come from the one question, but will be brought to us under the naming of the types of questions which have been derived from this one question text.
We will be led through:-
