On this day, we have come mindful that every act of Divine grace is done by the Trinity. As we come, we bring our frustrations, our indecisions, our anxieties, our failures and our weaknesses and lay them all at the feet of Jesus, God, the Son. We come, praying to God, the Father that we be given humbled, penitent hearts, as we receive the Father’s forgiveness and do and speak what He wants from us. It is with ever grateful hearts that we lift high, God, the Holy Spirit, who enables us to do all that the Lord says we can do.

It is in so doing that we free ourselves up to pick up our Lord’s yoke and His burden, for they are both light and easy for us to shoulder. Believe you me, our burdens and yokes are much more burdensome, cumbersome and weightier, than our Lord’s. And one of His standing promises is that He will help us carry them, as we follow Him.

So why don’t we all, as we read, just give over all our weights – problems, troubles, cares - to Jesus and take His burden and yoke?

Holy, loving and ever-working Spirit, thank You for persevering with us. Thank You that all is not lost with us. Thank You that You can bring us to this moment with You and in You, so that we can live the truth of all You are to us and in us. Make us power witnesses to Your enabling power and presence. Amen!

As previously indicated, this week we shall continue receiving more on the Holy Spirit and His work at Pentecost. However, we are doing this fully conscious of the Trinity – One God – Father, Son and Holy Ghost. We are ready and rearing to have lots of grey areas cleared up in us, once and for all. We are also seeking with ever humble hearts and renewed and right spirits, truth about ourselves and Pentecost.

Straightway, we go to the Day of Pentecost and note clearly that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, affected both disciples and non-disciples of Jesus.  The Spirit’s enabling power was working indoors and outdoors at the same time. He was working with the disciples of Jesus, in the house and He was working with non-disciples of Jesus, outside the house. His power enabled the disciples to speak the wonders of God, in the language of others and His power also enabled non–disciples to hear the wonders of God, in their own native language. Have you heard? Who can hone the power of God? Who can match the power of God? Who is so Almighty, and so full of authority, as to have a Pentecost that includes all?

This is what Pentecost is and who Pentecost is, for right here we can identify the God-Head. God, the Holy Spirit has enabled disciples of Jesus, God the Son, to do some supernatural speaking. Pentecost is full of power and laden with hope for all who will hear and receive.  Yes, I am speaking about the crowd of people who heard the Jesus-baptised disciples, speaking about the wonders of God, the Father, each in his own native tongue.  Have they not been made witnesses to Pentecost, through the disciples?

Tune your ears fully to this day, and listen. You are not in the upper room, but you are in the streets, among the crowd of hearers. With enabled hearing, all that you are hearing from the lips of these witnesses, is this question. What does this mean? Acts 2: 12b. This alone is enough for you and me to be leaping and dancing and praising God. Different speaking hearers are speaking and asking each other this question. What a blessedness!

We are told this bit of information about the hearers. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. Acts 2: 5. We have also been informed that this crowd of hearers was made up of (both Jews and converts to Judaism) Acts 2: 11a.

Tomorrow, we shall scrutinize the people who are amazed and perplexed at witnessing the evidence of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on ordinary human beings.
