Here again is the verse of the hymn, by W. Faber, which continues to be our point of focus.

If our love were but more simple,
We would take Him at His Word;
And our lives would be all sunshine,
In the sweetness of our Lord.

Will you listen to it more deeply, in and with the Spirit’s Mind and Understanding? Now will you accept this prayer to our Holy Spirit and pray with me?

Holy Spirit, the truth is that I can reason and understand, explain and give interpretation to this word, according to human intelligence, but I do not want anything natural and human, informing and guiding me. You see Jesus, You have given me a taste of truth and I have been totally hooked and completely brought low in my self-understanding and self-reasoning. You have brought me to the place where I no longer desire or get any pleasure whatsoever, in speaking what is of human learning, study and intelligence, or listening to it either. And I come, O Holy Spirit, Teacher, Counsellor, Adviser, Interpreter and Guide, seeking that You make me teachable and grant me Your learning, please. Thank You Teacher! You continue to train me in higher thoughts and loftier understanding – most unfathomable! Amen!

Previously, we noted that if we had more money, we would live in luxury - free from poverty and free from the anxiety of not having sufficient money, for our daily needs. We were also led to see how all those freedoms were independent of us, but they could be ours, if we had more money.

The same is true with love. If the love which we have were, more simple, we would take God at His Word. In other words, taking God at His word only is derived by and from, simple love. Love, which is given to all, is what is ours, but simple love, is not ours, as it is independent of us. The conjunction, if, as we have been shown, joins things together and it is this small, but mighty and powerful word, which connects simple love, with:-

Sunshine in our lives.

Sweetness in our Lord.

And our lives would be all sunshine,
In the sweetness of our Lord.

There is so much flowing out at the moment, such sweetness and joy, we cannot but hold this vein for the coming week.

Sunshine! Even in the midst of darkness and cloudiness! Only Jesus.

Sweetness! Even in the company of sourness and bitterness! Only Jesus.

As God wills, we look forward to more and more sunshine and sweetness in Jesus and with Jesus.
