Yesterday I began to share with you my experience during a virtual Covenant Service and how depressed, and resigned I had become, assuming a deep, dour disposition.

I do confess, with shame, that when the Covenant Service began, I was singing those old favourites, those standards proudly and joyfully, but I eventually was beaten down. My mood changed and I assumed the atmosphere of what I was hearing. Many, in fact, most of the faces shown to us, were of people who were singing yes, but with terribly sad faces and dreary voices. It appeared as though the organist, who is usually very alive and energetically so at that, had also assumed the dirge-like manner of the congregation. I became a sad heart and face, with dreary praises in song. This disposition continued for the next few minutes, until I was consciously convicted and strictly reprimanded for my stance. God’s Word was given birth in me and I was no longer in a dour state of resignation. I heard myself singing lustily, and joyfully, thanking and praising God for His Covenant partnership.

What is my point to you?

It is that when you have received the Gift of privilege and freedom in Christ Jesus, to share in the fullness of His Love, in whatever way He has chosen for you to partake, do not let others, many or few though they be, cause you to follow a pathway of response, which is not enhancing and uplifting in any way.

Think of the shepherds as they were all okay in the night hours, taking care of their animals. Their entire disposition and mood changed and they assumed the atmosphere of fear and dread. There was darkness in their hearts as fear gripped them. However, God sent them Good News. Lo and behold, what was born in them that day, that hour, small as it might have been, grew and grew with untameable excitement and zeal. From a group of frightened shepherds, to a group of fearless shepherds, bringing the word born in them, to others. Now, if that is not a miracle of God’s Word being conceived in them, I don’t know what is.

What is my proposition to you?

It is that whenever and for whatever reason or reasons you have lost your zeal, encouragement, boldness and even faith to the very prevalent powers of fear, darkness, bitterness and more, be honest before Father God and with yourself. Do not try to hide or pretend that you are not shaken, afraid, disappointed and more. God acknowledges truth and He will give birth to His Special Word in you, through His Holy Spirit. His reliable and magnificent Word in you will change you and spur you on in faith and love, to tell others about all that you have been told.

Don’t ever forget those shepherds who were once afraid and had to be told not to be afraid. Hearts, all full of fear, had God’s Miracle Word born in them. Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Luke 2: 10b. These words did not go through one ear and come out the other. These words were given birth in them, after all their fear was gone. The Word born in them grew, in that they not only wanted to know and witness for themselves, what they were told, but they were constrained by that same Living Word, to tell others. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about the child. Luke 2: 17

Be assured that when you tell others of your Good News, which has been given birth in you, it will not just be in your words. God Himself will confirm His Words in your life – your works and ways - by unimaginable signs and wonders. Trust Him to remove your darkness, your doubts, your resignation, your pity-parties, your anxiety, your worries, and your fears. You will, like the shepherds, receive new birth, in place of your fears.

Be bold and share your New Words with others.
