Made-to-fit Facts

In many Christian countries, as is still the case in the country where I live, today – Whit Monday or Pentecost Monday, is a public holiday. Like me, many have grown up knowing Whit Monday as the day of special Christian conventions. For us, it was the day when the women of our churches came together for their annual women’s convention.

Let me hasten to add that today is no different, for the Methodist women and their friends are gathered today in one place for their whole day convention.

Yesterday, we were provided with stimulating points, where we were forced to think about our reason for celebrating Pentecost. These questions were advanced, regarding Pentecost, the event which took place fifty days after our Lord’s Resurrection from the dead.

So what do we celebrate?

Why should we celebrate?

How do we know that we are honestly celebrating what is true and alive in our lives?

These questions were for personal, self-examination and we were promised only a few made-to-fit facts to help in our honest receiving of truths about ourselves and the already given Promise of the Holy Spirit. These have been taken from words quoted yesterday, which Jesus spoke to His disciples. We cannot deny that these are words of truth for us also, all of us who are His followers.

I have referred to them as, made-to-fit facts. I have done so in faith, simply meaning that in Jesus’ speaking, He has made all His followers fit to show Him daily in their lives. These are all believers who daily deny the tempting and pushing forward of self; all who daily take up their cross, which He allots; all who daily follow Him and have not even the desire to follow others; all who abide in Him and He in them. Yes, my family in Christ: Made-to-fit.

Made-to-fit the fact that we stand in an advantaged position because of the Ascension of our Master and Lord. What is your personal advantage, now that we know, by faith, that Jesus is no longer with us in Resurrected Body but in Descended Spirit?

Made-to-fit the fact that Jesus has been faithful and trustworthy in His promise, as the Helper is here on earth with us. The great, divine works He has come to do, include, among other things, the conviction of the world of righteousness. This is made so because He must ascend to His Father and no one will see Him anymore as He has been with them. What is your personal conviction, through the Holy Spirit, now that Jesus is no longer in flesh for us by faith to receive?

Made-to-fit the fact that Jesus has called it into being, as it were, that all who believe and receive the sent Holy Spirit, will receive power, supernatural, spiritual power, to be His witnesses, all over the world, anywhere and everywhere we are. What is your personal evidencing of this fact, that wherever you are, you are made full of the Holy Spirit’s power, to be a witness for Jesus and of Jesus?

Tomorrow, we shall be taken through a non-traditional path, as we receive all that the Holy Spirit is present, ready and ever prepared to bestow upon all who truly are desirous of receiving all, determined to receive all and delighted in receiving all.
