Likeness To Jesus

In this offering, our minds are brought to focus on the idea that the believers who were complaining, seemed only to be dissatisfied with the distribution of physical food, not the spiritual food. Are we to understand then, that the Ministry of the Word was adequately preached and taught?

These questions are asked again. Does this speak anything of note and count to your heart and mind? Does this raise any alarm bells in you?

I show and tell as has been spoken and shown to me.

We are taken to Jesus, Son of Man, as He is hungry in the desert. Look at Him as God’s Child, who is under the care of God’s Holy Spirit. This is also the case of the Grecian Jewish converts, whose widows are going hungry, due to poor distribution of food. Remember, these are all Spirit-filled people who are also under the care of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is being kept by the Spirit, who has Him well fortified with spiritual bread, or food, but has withheld physical bread from Him, as He is on a fast. Here is the fascinating, yet scary part. The devil comes in with his cunning and contumacious nature and tries hard to get Jesus to complain against the Holy Spirit and His lack of feeding Him food. Yes, the devil is quite aware that Jesus has been fasting. Yes, he is very much aware of the spiritual strength of the Son of God, so he attacks the Son of Man, in His weakness.

Note carefully, how the devil never ever speaks to Jesus as the Son of Man, though he is attacking Jesus’ humanity. How shrewd, clever and cunning is the master deceiver! He says this to Jesus. If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Matthew 4: 3b. This is the legitimate way the devil will get Jesus to use His God-given authority to deny the perfect working of the Spirit in Him, physically as well as spiritually.

This caused me to stop in my tracks, for I can, in this very moment, see how the deceiver will easily get me to deny the perfect, efficient, wise and flawless work of the Spirit in me, in my human body, that is. I cannot deny what I have been shown about myself. Is this you also? I give the Holy Spirit credit for my spiritual needs, but when it comes to the physical, O how I totally cast Him aside as not able, not interested, not caring and not willing to deal with my issues. The devil is not just wicked, but he is the epitome of demonic evils.

Note, he never tells Jesus to deny the Holy Spirit, I tell you; he just puts it in Jesus’ mind and head to feed Himself, take His human responsibility into His own hands. Is this not also true of many of us believers? When it comes to spiritual things and things of God, we are inclined to wait on the Spirit. However, when it comes to physical things are we more inclined to take matters into our own hands? We completely forget or are completely taken by the devil, who encourages us to leave the things of God to God and give the physical things over to us.

My public confession is that this is true of me. What is your confession? To those to whom this does not refer, we give God thanks and encourage you to keep on in faith. For those who are as I am, we give God thanks for showing us our ugly states and earnestly seek His forgiveness. We pray from this moment on, to trust our Father with all of our lives in ways which please Him.
