Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? Acts 2: 8.
Instructive Question
When we listen to the word, instructive, we automatically think of some manner or kind of instruction. Is there an instruction in our question text? If there is, what is its instruction? Let’s listen to the text again with a more seeking mind. Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? There are two distinct instructions given whereby we are to respond.
The first instructive response is that hearing is an individual response. As simplistic as this may sound, there is deep merit in it. Each person hears in his own native tongue. In other words, no one has to try and understand the language of another. It’s like saying that your spiritual food has been prepared, taking your culture into consideration.
Think of a conference to which people from different countries attend. You have gone to the conference and to your pleasant surprise, when it is mealtime, you see food, dishes from your culture. You recognize them and go directly to feast on them. So too with people from other countries who are feasting on their own native foods. Food has been provided for all, but individuals have their own individual, native foods. Yes, from the question we are instructed in responses which form our own individual receiving.
The second instructive response is an individualized response. Each person hears in his own native language. This response totally raised me from my meagre, inferior, lacking understanding, about the Holy Spirit and His Works in those whom He indwells. Who am I? Who are you? Who are we to limit the power, scope and span of the Holy Spirit? This is what I mean. My limited thinking would never allow me to believe or even think that the Spirit would give individualized hearing. The fact is that these visitors, many of them, are from countries where different native languages or dialects are spoken. For example, you and I may belong to the same country, but your dialect is different from mine. Faith in the Authority and Power of the Holy Spirt allows me to hear and see His individualized work in that Pentecostal hearing.
This Instructive question comes into light, or is revealed through the Holy Ghost. This is what Holy Ghost prophesying is all about, where receiving and partaking go hand in hand. There is RAP power.
So what are we to receive and partake of even now? When the Spirit gives you receiving, be sure that He will give partaking, for when the Lord lets down His table of food before you and says, kill and eat, be it known that everything before you will be made perfect, right and good, just for you. You receive and partake so that you can feed others.
