Indescribable God

Worship, praise and honour we ascribe to God, on this Lord’s Day Sunday, for He is worthy to be praised.

You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Revelation 4: 11.

Why then do you often dishonour Him?

We have a God who is without fault. God, the God whom we worship, Israel’s God, the Great I AM, is beyond any kind of reproach. We must laud and glorify His Name.

As for God, his way is perfect; The LORD’S word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. Psalm 18: 30.

Why then don’t you trust Him implicitly?

We worship a God who hears us when we call upon Him; a God who listens to us when we speak to Him; a God who answers us when we call out to Him.

Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. Isaiah 65: 24.

Why then do you live as one whose God is hard of hearing?

We are children of a God who brings Himself to us as Father, with all the love and care of a Father, so that we know Him as our Father in heaven and accept that we are His earthly children.

I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord God Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6: 18.

Why then do you live as if you have no Father in heaven?

We have a Father who knows us by name and knows us so well that He knows the very hairs on our head.

And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10: 30 – 31.

Why then do you live with fear and worry as your bosom pals?

We have a Father who is Just and all Truth. He trains and teaches all His children in righteousness and truth. He makes us children of His light and His truth.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Ephesians 5: 8 – 10.

Why then do you live as though your Father is the father of lies?

We have a Faithful and Just Father who lets us know when we are offending Him. His deep, Fatherly love for us does not allow us to live in the ignorance of sin. He does not delight in wrong.

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, ‘My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the ones he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.’ Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined – and everyone undergoes discipline – then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Hebrews 12: 5 – 8.

Why then do you make light of Father God's punishments?

God is our Father, just as He was the Father of the Hebrew children in the Old Testament. Throughout this week, we shall be having very serious looks at our Father in heaven and how He dealt with His stubborn Hebrew children.

My prayer is that each of us who is His child, will not just see our Heavenly Father in action, but that we:-
