And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt, into a land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites – a land flowing with milk and honey. Exodus 3: 17
Father God has promised. You must see the role of Moses, God’s messenger. God has given him a Word of Promise to take to His suffering children who are in Egypt. What is this Word of Promise? God has promised:-
To bring you up out of your misery. The children of God are living a most miserable life in Egypt, where they are slaves of a master who has no regard, respect, care and love for them. Their misery comes from their unfair and horrible treatment. They are suffering mercilessly.
To bring you into a land flowing with milk and honey. This is their place of mercy. This land is a place where they will know the Lord’s provision and protection. It is a place they will possess. It is what the Lord is giving to them. It is a promise that God will not leave them to wander about, trying to find a place for themselves. His promise, from misery to mercy, shows that God their Father, has chosen a place for them already. His choice for them, after their suffering and misery, is a place of bounty and plenty.
We are being reminded, in this most comforting Word, that God is still Father. What is God as Father like? He is the Father who hears and sees His children who are living in misery, wherever their Egypt might be. He hears the cries of all who are trapped, cannot get out, and are unable to help themselves. He is concerned about their suffering and awful treatment. He never remains untouched by the trials, pain and hardships of His children.
God is sending someone who is not in that same position, one who is not living in any ‘Egypt’ at the moment. That person is being sent, to bring God’s people, His Word of Promise. Father God sends His servant messenger into the place of suffering and slavery, just to ensure that His children know all that He has planned for them. This messenger is taken from his place, to go into that place of hardship, pain and suffering, just to bring The Father’s Word of promise to them.
Are you seeing God, the unseen God, as the seen and Loving Father? Is not our Heavenly Father showing us Himself in a special way today? Is this promise for us also? Do you see this as your promise too? I do! Today, yes right now in your life, regardless of what went before, you are to see yourself as either one, or the other.
Are you then as a Moses, or are you as one of God’s children, living a life of misery? Whichever you are, this is your promise.
It is a promise given to you by Almighty God, your Heavenly Father:-
To take to someone, or some others, who are living in misery, and cannot help themselves, the Word of Promise that God has sent for them.
To receive His Word of Promise, that He has sent to you, through His chosen messenger and servant.
God’s promise is to take His children:-
· From misery, to mercy
· From poverty, to plenty
· From suffering under slavery, to contentment in the providential Hand of God.
O Holy and Divine Spirit, may we come to accept just who our Heavenly Father is and just what He really has ordained for us. Amen!
