God's Trustworthy Word

We begin straightway, acclaiming that our God is a Trustworthy God, and therefore His Word is trustworthy, for He and His Word are One. What He promises, He will do. He does not have to wait on any powers or sources in heaven or on the earth, to make His Words true. He is His own Power Source. In fact, every other power must bow to Him.
Our God is most generous in His ways. Yes, His ways are not ours, neither are His thoughts like ours, but He wants us to know them. He leaves no stone unturned as He works day in and day out to bring us to the realisation that He wants us to be as He is, in thought, word and deed. Who is like our Heavenly Father?
I’m thinking about what is being said and it is most encouraging and comforting to know that the One Wise, our very Lord and Saviour, wants us to know His thoughts and His ways. He knows that we are humans and that our ways and thoughts are much lower than His. He also knows that there is no way any human can understand Him or know His thoughts and ways, unless He makes them known. Additionally, what is even more uplifting and what makes us all rejoice in faith and trust, is the fact that our Lord wants us to know His ways and mind more than we can ever imagine.
Listen to Father God, Creator and Ruler of all humankind as He speaks through His prophet, Isaiah. God wants us to turn our ears to Him, come to Him, hear what He is saying and our souls shall live. Yes, we are encouraged to seek God.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55: 6 – 11 KJV.
God’s mind and His way is for us to hear Him and seek Him while He may be found. We are to call upon Him while He is near. His wisdom is unsurpassed, so that we must, by faith, accept Him as Omniscient and look only and always to Him, regardless of what we are seeing and experiencing all around us and even within us. When the Lord has spoken His words of promise to us and life flings at us everything which shows that we will not be able to receive as God has spoken, seek Him, call upon Him while He is near. Faith keeps our Lord near to us. Faith keeps Him in our sight and in our hearing. Faith in our Lord grants us the wisdom and grace to repent, turn from all our fears, anxiety, wavering and unbelief, and fix all we have on the Lord.
We must take Him at His word and believe that His thoughts and ways are as far from ours, as far as the heavens are from the earth. It is with the acceptance of this truth, not just by saying we accept, but by living it that we will receive everything that has been promised to us. Now, who is a God like our Holy and Sovereign God? In addition to all that He has given to us and promised us, this is what He says to us, so that we will have no doubts about His faithfulness, trustworthiness and truth. He says most openly and freely that once He has spoken a word, it will never return to Him void. Why is this the case? It cannot and will not return to Him empty, because it will accomplish what He pleases. Also, it will prosper in whatever it was sent for.
There is a lot here for us, we all who have received God’s Word of promise in different matters, personal or not. I know that I sit here, in this moment, thinking of God’s word to me in a particular matter and being severely tempted to give up believing that what I was looking forward to, would happen. But God’s ways are not ours, neither are His thoughts like yours and mine.
Even as I write this, through carnal, human reasoning and calculations, I have to accede and find some excuse for God’s word not being fulfilled in me. Are you, at this time, struggling with temptations to give up and give in, regarding a promise of God to you? Is hope for the fulfilment of this promise, quickly dying to you? Are you being bombarded with thoughts, from others and yourself too, telling you to surrender and accept that it was not the Lord’s will for you to have it? I urge you to listen to God. He is not fazed by things of life or death. He is LORD! He is the giver of life and death. His Word of promise will never return to Him as unfulfilled. Whatever He wishes to accomplish will be accomplished. He is SOVEREIGN!
