God Knows What He Is Doing

As we begin, I just want to remind you, in living, active and accomplishing words that the Holy Spirit, for whom we are eternally thankful, is One with Jesus, our Lord and Master. We serve a Triune God who is the same - Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Be stubborn in your belief also, because, since God the Holy Ghost and God the Son are One, we know the Mind and Heart of Jesus, the Son, in His inexpressible Love for His own.
Once, when He had much to lay on the hearts and minds of His disciples, just before His death on the Cross, He told them this, outright. He let them know of His understanding, care and concern for them and that He would never give them to bear, what they were unable to carry or shoulder. I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. John 16: 12. Then He told them that the Holy Spirit would come to them and be their guide and lead.
Is this not the same Jesus, who is our Jesus also? Is this not the same Holy Spirit, who is our Holy Spirit also? We carry on therefore, in the sure hope that nothing will be too hard for us to bear, as Jesus is fully sensitive, understanding and caring of His own, who are in mortal clay. Are we not His own in human flesh? In such illuminating, warming and comforting Light, I’m therefore compelled, to remind us of the reality of evil – doubt and fear - in the midst of all that is true.
That supernatural experience startled those field dwellers and made them extremely afraid. Before the angel could speak his given message of Good News, he first had to bring peace to the hearts of those terrified shepherds. Even in this, do you not see the Person of the God in whom you believe? Listen! Look! See! The One who is helping us to deal with our deep concerns, puzzling questions and unresolved doubts, first says to us that we are not to be afraid.
God knows what He is doing.
The word of the heavenly multitude spoken on earth, was not just a word given to them to speak. It was a living Word made flesh in that little Baby Boy, who was born right there, in David’s Town. Peace had come among them in the midst of all earth’s darkness and evil. Peace had come among them suddenly and most unexpectedly. Peace had come among them and they would never have known, not even suspected it, if God’s messengers had not come directly to them, in those dark, night fields, with only the light and warmth of the fire they had made for themselves. Think about it! The Word of Peace came to them right there, through God’s heavenly host.
God does know what He is doing.
We are not just celebrating Advent, remembering and commemorating the First Coming of Jesus, God Incarnate. We are not only celebrating Advent, the Second Coming of our Risen Lord and King, as we look forward to His return. In this time we are celebrating and responding to the hope and sure favour we have in God that Jesus can be born in us today. Unless He comes to us and we know His birth in our hearts, by faith, His Second Coming will bring no peace for us.
God absolutely knows what He is doing.
Do you honestly believe that God does indeed know what He is doing, even when all around us, whether at home or abroad, the news is anything but good? Some of us look at our lives and how we struggle to keep faith alive as the Good News of Peace has flown like the wind and we are left with unrested and restless minds. O yes! All around our lives, these famous, well-known and well-used words are heard everywhere and at any time. Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those with whom his favor rests. Luke 2: 14.
However, fearful, sceptical, deeply doubting minds retort, asking, “What good news?" Where is the great joy? Where is the Promised Peace? Indeed, these and many other relevantly piercing questions and queries, take over the hearts and minds of many, believers included. When one looks with the bare, naked eye; when one reasons with pure human logic; when one goes solely on human interpretations and explanations, it must be that the Christmas Message is of the past and not for the present. Believe it or not, some may even dare to say that perhaps it was so, some two thousand years ago, but evidence, clear, concrete, vivid evidence shows that it cannot be so today.
