On this final Lord’s Day Sunday in the month of July 2023, we acknowledge God as Lord and give Him the preeminence He deserves. He is Creator and Supplier. He is Maintainer and Keeper. He is Provider and Controller. It is He and no one else, who has given this day to all people, believer and non-believer, alike. Just as, He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous, Matthew 5: 45b, so He has given this Lord’s Day to all people who are alive. He is our Generous God.

We are, this day most privileged to be able to see the penultimate day of a month, and the very first day of a week that will bear the ending hours of a fading month and the beginning hours of a new month. Think about it for a moment. Does Father God hold any promises for you in both the closing of the old and the opening of the new? Is there the excitement of peace, the assurance of love and the fullness of hope, deep within your very being, as you live this day, knowing that come what may, God is your all in all?

We look to Father, Son and Holy Ghost, for without our Triune God, we are totally, utterly and hopelessly lost. True, we will not be lost to the gifts God so freely and generously gives to all – the just and the unjust alike – but we will certainly be lost to every promise which Father God has made for those who by faith, believe and receive. These are promises made to us and they are based on clearly stated conditions.

During this coming week, we shall be looking at one such promise, with condition, which God made to His children and still makes to us today. Our promise making and promise keeping God, does not make idle promises, for what He says He will do, He will do.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed is Your Name. We thank You that You have not lost patience with us and that You continue to persevere with us. We honour and magnify Your Holy Name for who You are. We speak Your Name with great reverence, for You Only are the most High God. We love You Lord God and pledge all we are and have to You.
All praise and thanks to You for the grace so generously bestowed upon us, which enables us to come freely to You, knowing that if we pray aright, You will hear us.
Holy Spirit, please teach us, even now, how to pray aright. Amen!

Tomorrow, we shall be introduced to our promise with condition.
