Further Experiences of Hell

Having discussed spiritual, emotional and psychological torments, all real experiences in hell, we continue with just two more.
Social Torment - He foams at the mouth.
I say this is socially tormenting, or socially repulsive for that matter, for who feels comfortable with himself or herself, not knowing when, in company, whether with many people or few, one suddenly begins to foam at the mouth. I had to pause for a bit here, as the whole idea of foaming at the mouth brought to mind, for the first time, a person who was seething with rage, a very hostile and angry person. I always thought of the evil spirit as causing the boy to simply foam at the mouth, but the evil spirit can bring on the kind of rage that makes one seethe with anger and become even violent. Now, isn’t that social torment, for who wants to be a person others run from or hide from, each time they see you?
Physical Torment - It departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him.
To be bruised is not the kind of bruise we speak of as a graze or scratch. Entirely not! The father has told Jesus that each time the spirit leaves his son, it’s most difficult and painful, for it bruises him. The picture comes to mind of the verse which said this about Jesus. He was bruised for our iniquities. Isaiah 53: 5b NKJV . His bruising was no scratch or scrape. No kind of evil delights in just giving superficial bruises, for their intent is to harm.
We have received this to show many things, but these two in particular. The first is that out of one thing can come a great number of different torments. Secondly, as related and interwoven as they are, each has its own individualistic character. I am convinced that the torments of hell’s residents are spiritual, social, psychological, emotional and physical.
Let’s scan the Bible for some proof or evidence of torments and how they play out in our lives and the lives of others. Luke 8: 28 NKJV reads thus. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me! Does Jesus torment people? No! However, devils, evil spirits and all who are possessed by them are indeed tormented by the works of Jesus. The demon in this man had tormented him for a very long time. Nevertheless, when they faced Jesus, they knew that as soon as Jesus saw what they were doing to a human life, how they were tormenting that life, Jesus would not even think twice in casting them out. The demon knows Jesus to a Tee and knows that nobody has to pray and ask Jesus a thing. Jesus just has to see and the demon knows straightway He would be on his case. Even before Jesus does a thing or speaks a word, the demon, taking in front, cries out, I beg You, do not torment me. Demons are still tormented by Jesus. His own are not.
The locust from the bottomless pit, referred to in Revelation 9, have been commanded by Sovereign God, not to harm any grass or trees, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. Revelation 9: 5 NKJV. Those without the seal of God are guaranteed this horrible torment.
The Book of Revelation clearly and openly informs us all that if anyone of us worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on our hands or foreheads, we shall surely drink from the wrath of God which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. It continues further to say this. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. Revelation 14: 10b - 11 NKJV. Those without the seal of God are guaranteed this horrible torment. All who worship the beast or his image, that is, any likeness to him even, will perfectly qualify as they would have received the beast’s mark.
This verse shows the Supremacy of God, in that God’s authority is not just on the servants of the beast, those the beast or devil is able to deceive, but over the devil also. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and false prophets are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Revelation 20: 10 NKJV. Why follow any one who is under the authority of Creator God? Follow God and stick to Him, come what may – suffering or death – for He is your eternal life in heaven.
All who worship the beast or his image, that is, any likeness to him even, will perfectly qualify, as they would have received the beast’s mark.
