Here are the questions we went away with yesterday.
Is there another adoption?
Can a person be adopted twice?
These questions to which some will have responses, and others will not, as stated on yesterday’s receiving, are now being offered with simple and straightforward explanations.
The first fact is that just as one cannot have the same birth twice, so too, one cannot have the same adoption twice. In other words, just as it is impossible for you, at any born stage, to re-enter your mother’s womb and be born again, so it is with adoption. When we were adopted by Jesus, we knew that we were sons and daughters and that God sent the Holy Spirit into our hearts. Through the Spirit we are even able to cry out, Abba, Father. However, there is another adoption, which comes after the firstfruits. It is our adoption as sons, the redemption of our mortal bodies.
Jesus is our pattern and example. Jesus came as the Son of Man with a body that was like our body. He took our sins and bore them in His earthly body and became a curse, so that He could save us from the curse of sin. He had a body that was sinful and prone to sin and temptation. However, He overcame and conquered the power of sin, death, hell and the grave. Jesus, who had taken on a body like yours and mine, died on the tree and with His death, the curse of sin was broken for us. He broke the CURSE and He is the CURE.
When Jesus died, having taken our curse upon Him and having paid the wages of sin, He did the impossible. He did what only God Himself could have done. Jesus broke the bonds of hell and came out of the grave victorious. When He arose He knew a different body, a glorified body. He looked like a human being when He came out of the grave, after three days. He was not an apparition, or some ghost-like character. He had a body that could be touched, seen and felt. He was able to eat food with His disciples and have fellowship with them. He lived with them for forty days and nights before He left them, so that the Holy Pentecostal Spirit could come.
Through His Death and Resurrection, we too die with Him and are raised with Him, so that in Him and by Him we are adopted and are the firstfruits of His work. In other words, we have, in Him, been adopted to be as Adam was in the beginning. We are the firstfruits, if you like of those who, by faith accept the CURE from the CURSE.
However, we groan inwardly for the adoptions of sons, that which comes after the firstfruits, where we will receive a body like the One we saw Jesus with; the body that was glorified, which could simply appear and not be limited by humanness anymore. We wait patiently and in hope for our bodies, the last part to be redeemed. These are bodies that will not be attacked by pain, disease, sickness and the like. These are bodies that will come through locked doors and blocking walls. The limitations of our present human bodies, prone to decay will no longer be like that.
May the Holy Spirit continue to nurture each one of us. May He grant us humility and desire, to leave all our self-ways, self-works and self-wills, to catch ahold of true facts and not be duped by what is fake. Amen!
