Dining Power

Today, we are on to some children’s television watching. I am really excited and totally thrilled to share this personal experience with you. I feel like a Sarah almost, in my senior years, holding a child’s television programme so dear to me, I am learning, growing, and excitedly enjoying being made young again in my heart and spirit. In addition, I am brought to my knees, confessing my inadequacies and asking for grace to be more and more a true model and witness of the dining power of our Heavenly Father.
To some, this may be extremely bland and even totally insipid. Assuredly though, to others it will so whet your Spiritual appetite that you will do all that is necessary to be sure, sincere and fully secure in the knowledge of who your dining place is.
Every single day, from Sunday to Saturday, at some point in the day, the television is put on in the house for the toddler in the house. These are children’s Bible programmes and some of the animated Bible stories have been ingeniously thought through for the children. One such song which I have been hearing over and over, tells of the dining place which God has prepared for His children in the desert. The song tells of God’s provision of manna. Part of the chorus goes like this.
Manna burgers manna fries,
Manna falling from the skies,
People grumbled day and night,
God provided what a sight,
Manna pancakes, manna pie
Manna raining from the sky,
God’s love never ends what a high!
However, as chuffed as I was by the way of presentation to appeal to the young, impressionable minds, these words from the beginning of a verse, suddenly arrested me.
For forty years this routine went on,
God’s love and provision was never done.
Suddenly, I tell you, the timing of “forty years” would not leave me. It would not allow me to rest. Forty years came to me as a lifetime. I was made to see God as a life-time Provider. Not only that, but stubborn belief seemed to saturate every bone and sinew within me, pumping in this reality. Our Heavenly Father’s Dining Place will never ever fall short of food, regardless of what is going on around us in our desert places. The full onus was on God, for He not only took on this lifetime responsibility, but He knew what He was getting into, for He is Omniscient. God never ever failed to provide adequate food for them even for one single meal.
Have you ever thought of the undaunted, unmovable, unconquerable and undeniable Power of Creator God, to consistently and faithfully feed His people for forty years in the desert?
If you and I believe this to be an actual historical fact, then is this God of Israel the same God we worship today? Is He the same manna-feeding God who feeds in the wilderness times of His people? He either is the same or He is not and our spiritual lives will give perfect testimony to whether or not He is the same or He is not the same.
