We have come to this third Lord’s Day Sunday in our special month of the ROUTE where, with each devotion, meditation and quiet time, we each have been having our hearts and minds made, Renewed, Open, Unbiased, Trusting, Embracing. We have been receiving through the ever present and ever working Holy Ghost, who is unrelenting and unconquerable in His Ways. We cannot but bow in deep reverence and praise in response to our Heavenly Father God, for without His Holy Ghost, daily fixing us and fitting us for this ROUTE, we would of all people be the most deceived. Yes indeed! We would be a people pathetically deceived and utterly misled, thinking that we are in hope, when all we are believing and expecting – every single thing – is all in vain.

On this precious and favoured day, in this most blessed hour, we come before our Faithful, Sovereign God, whose Spirit is Forever Faithful in confirming the things of our Lord in us. We are the results, the fruit and the handiwork of the Faithfulness of God. If indeed, we are our Heavenly Father’s obedient and abiding children, then will not His Spirit confirm this truth in us also? What truth is He confirming in us? He is confirming the truth of the Faithfulness of our Lord. This is what we are told in 1 Corinthians 1: 9. God is faithful who has called us into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

God’s Holy Spirit is forever confirming the works of our Lord in us. He is never weary, hesitant or ungenerous in so doing. On the contrary, He is ever too proud, happy delighted and ready to do His marvellous, miraculous confirming works in the witnesses of Jesus Christ. Have we not been reliably informed of what happened to the Spirit-filled disciples, who obeyed their Lord’s command to work for Him? Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. Mark 16: 20.

On this day of worship and praise; honouring and adoring; reverencing and revering our God, are we not celebrating Him for His faithfulness to us also? As servants of the Living Christ, what exactly is the Holy Spirit confirming in these servants of Jesus? Are we to understand that the Lord only confirms the work of the preachers? Yes! A thousand times yes, when we understand the work of preaching. If we are given the wisdom and understanding to accept preaching as prophesying – the Holy Spirit’s outpoured gift – then we will know that to prophesy is also to proclaim and to publish. Each of us who is a servant of Jesus, is called to testify and to witness to Jesus, Crucified and Resurrected. However we are inspired so to do, we are never alone, for the Lord has promised to be with us and work with us. Not only that, but He has also promised to confirm every word of His by signs which shall accompany His given word.

Faith and trust allow us to accept and believe every single promise to be with us and confirm the word in us. We stake our lives on the Word of our Lord, because His Word is His bond. We will not waver or relent, though many will come to inveigle us to doubt, for we know that our Holy Spirit is our Confirming Spirit.

Confirm Your works in us, O Spirit,
With You there’s naught of human limit,
For each one who to the Lord submit,
Your every Word You doth commit.

Thank You Lord.
