We begin today with a united voice, confessing and acknowledging that our bodies and souls alike, belong to the Holy Spirit. We are given courage and strength when we note that this is some of what the devil tried to do with Jesus.

May God grant us the Spirit’s wisdom and understanding that we may not fall for the deceiver’s poisonous charms.

Jesus listened to all that the devil was saying to Him. He read into the hidden agenda of the deceiver’s cunning and simply announced that He was totally of His Father. In so many words, He told the devil that He, the Son of Man, does not live on physical bread alone; that is not the way for His life or of His life. But, says Jesus to him, with full boldness and authority that the Son of Man, and every single one who believes and has given his or her life to God, shall live on the Living Bread, which is the Word of God. Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4: 4b.

Where then are we in this time of distribution? What are we to learn from the distributions which come from the two ministries identified in our text? Here is a reminder of some of the text. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word. The identified ministry works are the distribution of the Spiritual Food and the distribution of Physical Food, where the apostles have stated categorically that they will focus on the distribution of the Word and prayer. Can’t you see a bright spark from their own teachings of their Master and Example, illuminated before them as He put His foot down before the tempting deceiver, regarding the distribution of food, in His hungry state and condition? Have they not seen, although bread is necessary and very important to believers, the Word of God is what is vital to all believers?

From all that we have been discussing throughout this week, many precious, and valuable word-gems have been received. These are the chosen ones that have been selected as a sample to offer you.

  • As important as physical food is to the carnal body, never let it take precedence over Spiritual food.

  • As much as the inadequate distribution of food to some, has caused tension and complaint, bringing contention, unrest, uneasiness and divisions among the unity of the Church, do not allow this to overtake the distribution of Spiritual Food.

  • As much as the works or deeds of faith are visibly evident, in not just speaking faith, but doing the deeds of faith, in feeding the needy, be wise. Do not neglect prayer and the Ministry of the Word, for serving only physical food.

The serving of Spiritual Food is paramount.
