As we continue, we are ever conscious and awake to the fact that these hymns have been handpicked for us. We are ever to seek and receive mindful hearts, spirit-filled voices and holy zeal, to commend our Triune God to others.

In proceeding, we are conscious that some of us are as Lydia, an ardent and true worshipper of God the Father. She was a business woman, a working person whose business never detracted her from being a faithful worshipper. However, it is only after listening to Paul, the servant of Jesus, commend Jesus to them, a group of believers, among whom she was a member that Lydia came to know God the Son and receive His Baptism, that of the Holy Ghost.

One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshipper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. If you consider me a believer in the Lord, she said, come and stay at my house. And she persuaded us. Acts 16: 14 - 15

To every present Lydia, this Spoken Word is true: -

  • To be a worshipper of God and not know His Son, is to worship, but not in Spirit and in Truth. Listen to and receive the Lord’s sent word.

  • To listen and have one’s heart changed is conversion. You must exercise your faith and trust in the sent servant of the Lord.

  • To know conversion is to receive baptism, for Paul is all about converts knowing Jesus and receiving Jesus who is Spirit.

May our Triune God grant us open hearts to respond to His Word. Amen!

Here is our second hymn.

Thy faithfulness, Lord, each moment we find, So true to Thy word, so loving and kind! Thy mercy so tender to all the lost race, The vilest offender may turn and find grace. O let me commend my Saviour to you, I set to my seal that Jesus is true: Ye all may find favour who come at His call; O come to my Saviour! His grace is for all. To save what was lost, from heaven He came; Come, sinners, and trust in Jesus's name. He offers you pardon; He bids you be free; If sin be your burden, O come unto Me! Then let us submit His grace to receive, Fall down at His feet and gladly believe: We all are forgiven for Jesus's sake: Our title to heaven His merits we take.

Meditate on the words of this hymn as you sing them, read them, or have them read to you. Do this in faith, free to receive and believe as you are guided by God, the Holy Spirit.

Tomorrow we shall discuss what has been gathered.
