On this second week of offerings from 2013, treasures which I am still pleased and privileged to share with you, I must confess that my excitement and heart-joys have not waned in the least. On the contrary, they are being heightened with each new remembrance and offering.
The mere fact that you are able to even look at this, is proof that you were alive in the year 2013. Your experiences in 2013 were not mine and mine were not yours, in terms of the actual, physical situations, though many may have been quite similar. Notwithstanding, I guarantee you that the faithfulness of God to you and to me was the same. You and I are here today, because of God’s faithfulness and we celebrate and cherish Him for His gift of life. It is precisely and entirely because of our Lord’s faithfulness that we can share these meditations, devotions and times of quiet together. It is also through His faithfulness that I know that you will be renewed, reenergised and redoubled in passion, commitment and zeal, to follow Jesus and be His powerful witnesses.
The ROUTE which we all must continue to take, calls for faith and trust in God and God alone. Enabled by the Holy Ghost Himself, we all must come by the same, one route that of - Renewed, Open, Unbiased, Trusting, Embracing – hearts and minds. Who then, will not fall prostrate in penitence and privilege, at the Feet of our Forever Faithful God, whose faithfulness is His Word and whose Word is His bond? O how we cannot but cherish and embrace our Heavenly Father, whose faithfulness captures us all over again, each time.
But what if the condition of faith is not met? What if some have no spiritual feet, as it were, no faith and trust in God? Will God then be defeated? Will God’s people’s lack of faith and trust in Him, only make Him faithful to some? We are quickly drawn to Romans 3: 3 – 4. What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true and every man a liar. As it is written: so that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.
No! God’s faithfulness stands alone. God’s faithfulness is unconditional. God’s faithfulness is not fired or motivated by human desires or pleasures. Lack of faith displeases God, but it does not determine His faithfulness. Think of this. A father loves his daughter dearly. He loved her from the time she was conceived, before she came out of the womb, even, love that did not depend on her. Even before she knew who her father was, to reciprocate any love feelings and gestures towards him, he loved her dearly. Now that the child is grown, she has chosen to walk paths which utterly displease him. He is grieved and sad, and his heart aches for his child, but nothing of this is able to erase his love for her. In fact, the truth of his singular, unconditional love for her, is heightened and shown more clearly, with her every act of displeasure. How is this so? Look at how she has turned against him with her worldly behaviour, yet he has not turned his love away from her. For it is love that hurts and longs for her to return to his taught ways.
Is this not a shadow of what obtains with Father God and His faithfulness? His Love and Faithfulness are made even brighter and clearer, as light in the darkest areas. The more unfaithful we are to God, our Faithful Father, the more His Faithfulness takes greater, visible form, in our eyes.
