On this first Lord’s Day Sunday in the month of August, I am inviting you to celebrate with me the Lord’s faithfulness, in a month of revisiting and renewing. Surely, we all know and can personally testify to the faithfulness of God. I am sure that all who love the Lord and are alive to see this first Lord’s Day, will not hesitate in the least to publish and proclaim. The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3: 22 – 23 ESV

Indeed, God has been faithful to me and I have been given the freedom and privilege to return to where I was a decade ago and be taken through paths and places of learning in a most unprecedented and totally Spirit-fed way. Perhaps some of you may already have shared some of these treasures with us, nevertheless, it is good to revisit, remember and be renewed with good and edifying things of the past. It’s like this.

You have been away from the place where, as a young child you grew up. It is a place you know well, a place you love dearly, a place where you made your first friends, learnt your first formal and informal lessons. It is a place of childhood fun, laughter and tears. Now, many years after, you have been given the privilege of returning to your home place and the excitement is phenomenal. Many things would have changed, but you are coming with more understanding, love and knowledge. With renewed, open, unbiased, thankful, embracing heart and mind, you return to old places, visit old friends, walk the old paths, sing forgotten songs and even play some of the childhood games.

You spend long moments reflecting and remembering as you cannot but vividly and clearly see the faithfulness of Father God in your life. You hold the old faces and places deep within your heart and you joy to embrace the new faces and changed places. You are proud and pleased to share your old-time experiences with all who will listen. You have many and are motivated and inspired to share them – the sunshine and the rain; the laughter and the tears; the joys and sorrows; the good times and bad times - as they all are treasures to share.

In a practical and most refreshing sense this is what has happened with me and the treasures which I am about to share with you through this week and this entire month. I have revisited meditations, devotions and quiet times I have had with our Lord, a decade ago. Indeed, 2013 was and still is a special year for me and I have been gently guided by our Holy Spirit to these treasures, which I know, as we revisit them, will not just bring back remembrance, but renewal and refreshing.

This will be the ROUTE - renewed, open, unbiased, trusting, embracing – of each heart and mind, which will bring us to bow before the faithfulness of our ever present and ever working God. This route must be walked by faith and trust, the spiritual feet which give access to all the treasures of our lavishly giving God.

Each day, I will bring you one of the treasures from 2013. They will be brought to you in different sizes and shapes, but each will be Holy Ghost packed.

Our God is Forever Faithful. Let us celebrate Him.
