Blood News

Recently, a dear friend, could not wait to share her good news with me. She had done some specially requested blood tests, requested by her general doctor, due to visibly marked and worrisome changes in weight loss. The results from the blood tests, which tested specific targeted things, were given to my friend, and boy was she over the moon, sharing it with family and friends. When I phoned her that morning, it was not about her blood test news. In fact, I had my own agenda, but when she answered the telephone, I did not have to see her face, I could hear the joy and excitement in her distinctly clear voice. She said good morning and then proceeded to say. “I got some good news. The results of the blood test came back and all is well.” She did not leave it at that, she went on to explain what was meant by all is well, by giving me this detail. “The blood test results show that there is no cancer, no tumor and nothing like that.”

O yes, my friend was totally thrilled, happy and ready to share her good news with me, without hesitation or interference. She was indeed happy, and rightly so. She wanted others to know, and rightly so. She had not the slightest doubt about what she was told about herself, and rightly so. Just hearing her speak with such boldness and confidence, such joy and excitement, made me happy for her, but it plummeted me into a grabbing hold, as I was asked this life question. What are the results of your Spiritual Blood Test? What are you publishing to the world about the results of tests you do on a daily basis? Are you as your friend, so happy and excited about her good news, just by her voice, one can tell her genuine joy and relief? Then and there, the ever witnessing Holy Spirit, brought me to this reality about my divine living. Just as my friend was speaking about her human living, our Holy Spirit is speaking to us about our divine living. Yes! Like our Crucified, Risen and Ascended Lord, we who are totally human, who have given our lives to Him, have been made totally divine in Him. We too have blood tests in our divine lives, ordered and done by Him and who never fails to give us our results.

In the flesh, blood tests were ordered, by her physician because of a visibly concerning abnormality, one which was worrying to my friend and of great concern to her doctor. In the spirit, blood tests are necessary, when there is an obviously noticeable discrepancy in our daily living, one which we can’t help but notice and one, no matter what we do or say, continues to produce negative works, that which is totally opposite to the Holy Spirit’s indwelling in us. You see, you and I have already received this good news about the Blood, while we are yet slaves to sin and bore the devil’s fruit without deviation. Our good news was this. If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin, 1 John 1: 7. Now that is good news!

However, like my friend, things are outwardly showing up which only the testing of her blood will give answers to. I don’t know what your divine living is like, but I do know that I had been displaying symptoms of self-righteousness and pride. These are visible responses which cannot be living and active, if the Blood of Jesus is my purifying source. Many of us are courting pride and self, and we live lacking and wanting lives. Here’s an example. Someone has been very unfair, disrespectful, uncaring and treating us with disdain. We feel hurt that after doing so much for that person, he or she can treat us in such a low manner. We hurt deeply and complain and talk of the ungratefulness of that person. We find that we are becoming more and more upset, complaining more and not living the abundant life which Jesus shed His Precious Blood to give us.

Like my friend, blood tests have been done, however, unlike my friend, the results are positive on all counts. If today, this is the case with you, as it is with me, then rejoice. Rejoice, because truth of your spiritual life has been confirmed. The good, nay, the very good news is that you know the truth about yourself and it is truth that sets people free.
