On this Lord’s Day Sunday, fully aware of the fact that Pentecost Sunday and Whit Monday have already been celebrated, I invite you to remain fully fixed and determined in the Spirit as we know that He is still working in men and women to produce His fruit and produce them in abundance.
In distinct obedience to the leading and guiding of our Holy Spirit, I have offered you this very special Gift – all about the Holy Spirit and You. May this week be a totally new experience for all who will receive with penitential spirit.
When the word crucifixion is mentioned, don’t we all think straightaway of Jesus? Many people have been crucified, yet we think solely on Jesus. When the word resurrection is spoken of, don’t we all tend to think only of Jesus? I for one never think of Lazarus or Jairus’ daughter for example. On hearing the Name of Jesus, people automatically speak of Saviour, Healer, Friend and more. When you hear the word God, many tell you that He is Jehovah, and how mighty He is. In like manner, when we hear the word Pentecost, we think only, Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. None of us ever remembers that the feast of Pentecost has been around for long, way before Jesus was born. It was known by many names including the Feast of the First Fruits. It was the time after Passover, the saving of the people of God, when they brought to God their fruits. It was a time of thanksgiving, for the firstfruits which God had given to them. We are told that later on, this feast was associated with the giving of the Law to Moses, for the people of God.
Yes, this was a Jewish festival. Later, however, it was taken and given the name Pentecost, the giving of the Spirit and His fruit to all believers. The literature tells us that God gave His Holy Spirit to His own on the same day He gave Moses the Law for the people. Shavuot is the name Jews give to Pentecost. We are told that the Gift of the Holy Spirit to both men and women, was the firstfruits of a new dispensation, which fulfilled and succeeded the old dispensation of the Law.
Pentecost has come down through the ages and today we still celebrate Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit. In all divine integrity and holy sincerity, are you celebrating Pentecost as a truth in your life? For years, many believers, including you and me have celebrated Pentecost as strangers from a distance. I say that because the Holy Spirit is not yet resident in them and without Him;
One has no personal proof in knowing the Risen Jesus in Resurrected Body.
One has no Pentecostal power to be witnesses of Jesus, Crucified and Resurrected.
One has no permanent or lasting produce of the Holy Spirit to offer others.
Indeed, everyone can celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, anyone can be serious about it and go through the rituals and rules with flying colours, but alas, they are dead to the Spirit. Everything being done then, is meaningless and utterly vile and futile in the eyes of Creator, Father, if His Spirit does not indwell you.
On this precious Day Lord, as we bow before You Lord, in adoration, praise, thanksgiving and deepest reverence, we seek Your forgiving grace and mercy. We long for Your pardoning assurance and peace as we ask for help in giving ourselves over to You without reservation. You are our God, All Knowing, thus You are fully aware that some of us need to hear more, learn more and produce more in You. We need Your Divine, Indwelling Pentecostal Holy Spirit visible in our lives. We need to appropriate Your fulfilled prophecy and already given promise.
In this week Father, have mercy upon us, and move us. Amen!
