Why

On this Second Lord’s Day Sunday in October we come with deeply grateful hearts to our Heavenly Father for not just keeping us through to this time, but for granting us opportunities for change. We are especially thankful to our Holy Spirit, who has never once left us alone, refusing to help us in our hours of need. We lift His Name high for He has done, is doing and will continue to do the works our Lord Jesus said He would do. In addition to all that He does He has been convicting us in our ways of living, which are opposed to what Jesus has offered us.

Some convictions are really stinging, don’t you agree? But I have learnt and still am learning that as awful as some convictions may be, it is the grace and mercy of God, to save us from a life without Him.

Today, we are spoken to, through a poem that asks, “Why?” I offer you this poem for two main reasons. One is that it steers our minds to some heavy self-examination and self-evaluation, which either brings us to be honest or dishonest about ourselves. The other reason is that it sets the tone for the rest of the week.

WHY?

Why are you troubled, why are you distraught?

Have you forgotten all that you’ve been taught?

Why do you doubt each promise God has made?

By living the life of one who’s afraid?

Why are you anxious, why lose the Lord’s rest?

Don’t you know, this is the evil one’s test?

Why do you behave as one without strength?

Hasn’t Christ, to save you, gone the full length?

Why are you downcast, laden with worry?

Has God become too weak, you to carry?

Why do you think what to Him you’ve taken?

He just can’t keep and you’ll be forsaken?

Why are you afraid, when life’s storms get rough?

Is God’s Spirit who’s with you, not enough?

Why do you act as though He’s not able?

So you trust what you think’s more capable?

Why are you burdened when I am right here?

What makes you live today in constant fear?

Why do you not throw all your cares on Me?

So from your worry I can set you free?

Why, just tell Me why, with fear you must live?

Faith, from Me is what to you I did give,

Why not test that faith, though small it be.

Remember that faith is what pleases Me.

Amen!
