Jesus Is With You

As a new week is opened up before us, so too are new experiences, new trials, new sorrows and new joys. However this week has opened up to you, please know that you have been given this time by God. He is your Father in heaven and regardless of how it appears to you at the moment, regardless of what others are saying about you being unfortunate and treated unfairly by God, will you listen?

I have asked God, the Holy Spirit to grant you all that you need to accept His Word. God’s Word is not just simply true and reliable, it is for you. I offer you this absolutely faith-building; trust-boosting and hope-bearing word, which has been my unmistakable help and continued sustainer.

You know that you belong to Jesus and that He is with you in your vessel. Recollect this picture of Jesus in a vessel with His disciples.  Together, they are sailing on calm waters to their destination. It is so peaceful and calm that Jesus falls asleep in the stern on a pillow. But He was in the stern asleep on a pillow. Mark 4: 38a. Suddenly, a great storm arose and the vicious winds and waves beat violently upon that boat. It was life-threatening, as water began to fill the boat. When the disciples could take it no longer, as they saw death at sea for them all, in fear and alarm, they went to Jesus and woke Him from sleeping. They said, Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing? Mark 4: 38b. Jesus awoke, fully alert, spoke to the raging, perilous sea and calmed it. Then Jesus turned to His raging-with-fear, faithless disciples and brought calm to them also. But He said to them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? Mark 4: 40.

Whatever rough weather may be shaking your already frail vessel, whatever storm has suddenly come upon you with force you cannot manage, and you are afraid, truly afraid, know this. You are the temple, the vessel of the Lord in whom the Spirit lives. He is there within you. And even if you think that He may be sleeping, He is in the same boat with you.

Follow the disciples, who were all terrified and unable to help themselves in that situation. Seek the Holy Spirit as they sought Jesus. Just as they didn’t try to cover up or hide their fears and sound brave, so too with you. Be open and honest. Ask the Spirit, as the disciples asked Jesus, about your present unsettling, stressful situation. The Holy Spirit, who already knows all things, will address your life-storm and you, as Jesus did for those disciples. As with Jesus, the Spirit will calm your outer and inner present stormy weather. As Jesus brought calm to the raging waters, so the Holy Spirit brings peace and calm to you.

Don’t you want to experience the One whom even the winds and the waves obey? He is with you even now. Turn to Him in your present faith-less state. He will not leave you in fear. He will grant you peace.

He calms the storms and stills the waves,
Jesus, His own friends helps and saves,
Even when faith gives way to fear,
Look! Jesus with you, is still there,
His might to save you, never doubt,
He’s in your storm, for Him look out,
Give thanks, Jesus is in your storm,
Give thanks, He will all things transform.
Amen!
