Be Anxious For Nothing

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God: and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:  6 - 7

Point 1- You are not to be anxious about anything.

This is a very anxious, scary and utterly unprecedented time for Moses. What does he do? Exactly what this point states, is what we observe in this man of God.  You are not to be anxious about anything. Moses faces truth and accepts it. The people whom he leads, God’s people, the Church if you like, God’s children who are called by His Name, are in deep trouble. It is a critical time, I tell you, but the reality of this first point is exemplified. Moses refuses to let this anxiety cripple him and make him forget the God whom he serves. The anxiety does not take mastery over Moses’ mind nor heart. This worry, as grave as it is, does not cause Moses to surrender to it and become its servant.

Believer, you too are facing anxiety that has you all troubled, worried and without true peace. You have a choice. You can either continue in worry and anxiety, becoming its slave, or like Moses, you can decide not to be crippled by worry and do the only wise thing, tell it to God.

Pause here for a bit. As has already been alluded to, more often than not, those things which cause our worry, pertain to human beings and carnal things. We become anxious when we cannot handle situations which are so tough, they are way beyond all our given strength and ability. We become extremely anxious when we are too weak and too powerless to help a desperately needy sister or brother. We even become anxious about our own spiritual lives and the spiritual lives of those of loved ones also.

Nevertheless, when you think again of Moses and deeply consider his anxiety, you will be hard-pressed, not to see how it has nothing to do with what is carnal, really. It is all of God, all of Deity, all Sovereignty. As we have been repeating, everything has come about because God has told Moses of His burning wrath against His people.

The point being driven home is that Moses is carrying some deep, scary anxiety, all of God and God’s angry state, against His beloved people. This is nothing of the carnal or the human. Yet, in spite of this untouchable situation, this divinely holy situation, Moses dares to touch it in prayer.

Moses has not just proven Paul’s declaration of notice regarding praying, when facing anxieties, but has Moses not taken it to another level for us? Be anxious for nothing.

Has not Moses, taken the understanding of the meaning of the word, nothing, in its completeness? Moses is the servant of a God who is real to him, a God who communes and communicates with him on a daily basis. God is in the life of Moses. More accurately, God is Moses’ life. Whether Spiritual or carnal, Moses knows that he has a God to whom he can take every worry, every pressing concern, every anxiety.

In this point of being anxious for nothing, we note how this servant of God is not shy in taking everything to God in prayer, even when it comes to a matter pertaining to his God, to Deity. Will you not learn from Moses?

We are to be anxious for absolutely nothing. Whatever it is, carnal or Spiritual, of God or man, we are to take it all to God in honest praying.
