Flesh And Bones

Here is a fact that was stated in yesterday’s offering, which has not left me. Without apology, I bring the entire paragraph as previously given. I quote.
Jesus has clearly demonstrated, in crystal clear colours and embolden actions that His divine understanding of human nature did not remain in the grave. His grave apparel remained, but not the clothes which drape and cover doubts, fears, skepticism and deceived thinking. Friends, believers, isn’t this enough to fill, satisfy and lift us up into resurrection rejoicing? Have you heard? Will you believe and receive this resurrection fact? Jesus’ understanding of human nature did not remain buried in the grave. His understanding of resurrection fears, marked every single move He made, as He convincingly proved to His own that He was really and truly alive. I tell you, I ask you this. Isn’t what Jesus has done and continues to do, spellbinding and supremely sufficient for us to be convinced that our Jesus truly lives?
All I know is that our Jesus knows that it is not at all easy to believe that He is alive in flesh and bones, as our human minds are not readily accepting of such an unnatural occurrence. Jesus understands and does not give up on our doubting minds and hearts. He stoops to our position and for our sakes, continues to show us evidence, in His Body, that it is He. This is what we are specifically and specially looking at in today’s offering. Having shown His disciples His nail-pierced feet and hands, some would think, that would be enough to convince them.
We agree that Jesus has come to His disciples to convince them that He is alive in flesh and bones. He has already asked them, Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. If to behold something, is to look at and see clearly, and completely and not superficially, then Jesus has made His hands and feet visible to them. He then carries on His convincing truth, with more intensity. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. Jesus has asked them to feel His Body, for if He were a ghost, they could not feel flesh and bones. Are you seeing our Jesus? He stoops really low, in His passion to get His own to believe that He is alive in flesh and bones. Feel Me, touch Me, handle Me, twist Me around if you like, Jesus is saying, and see that I have flesh and bones.
Alas, this helps, but these disciples of Jesus are not yet sealed in getting rid of every single fear and doubt. This is what we read. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, Have you any food here? So they gave Him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb. And he took it and ate it in their presence. Luke 24: 41 – 43. It is the kind of, it’s too good to be true syndrome, all over again. It’s like the Church, sincerely praying to God to save Peter from Herod’s demonic hands. However, when they are told that Peter is at the door knocking, it overwhelms them and they marvel so much at what to them is humanly impossible, they think that the bearer of such resurrection truth is beside herself. At her insistence that God has rescued Peter, since he is outside knocking, they explain it by saying, It is his angel. Acts12: 15b.
To explain this unbelievable impossibility of Peter being snatched from the claws of the evil Herod, by the praying Church, is not much different from the disciples saying that what is really before them, is a spirit or ghost. The mere fact that they are claiming it to be Peter’s angel, means that it is not actually Peter, in flesh and bones.
Believe it or not, all that we have been discussing leads right to the hymn of Mr. Lehman, which was named earlier on. I also stated most boldly that as I have been schooled regarding flesh and bones truth, I am extremely eager to offer you. The hymn is, “The Love of God is Greater Far …”All the words from this life-telling story of God’s Love, are treasures beyond measure. However, chosen for us in this meditation, are these lines,
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win
His erring child, He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Before we continue tomorrow, we earnestly pray that the Holy Spirit will loose us, free us, and grant us the freedom to accept the convincing proofs placed before us. We desperately hunger and thirst to know and have resurrection facts indelibly etched upon our hearts and unmovably sealed in our minds; in flesh and bones truth.
